Fit, Fun and Fabulous kickoff

Fit Fun and Fabulous Serving St. Mary Parish will hold its 5th annual health and wellness festival this week in downtown Franklin.
2019’s Spotlight Organization is Arc of St. Mary/Center of Hope, which will be honored at Wednesday evening’s Kick-off Party, held from 6-8 p.m. at the Teche Theatre for the Performing Arts in Franklin.
The evening’s entertainment will be provided by Grammy Award-winning artist Chubby Carrier & Bayou Swamp Band, as well as a meet and greet will be held with guest speaker and former Atlanta Falcon/LSU Tiger, and current Program Director with Professional Athletes Supporting Students (PASS) Lyman White.
Admission is free with a suggested donation to go directly to the ASM/CH.
A cash bar will be available with beer, wine and margaritas, and will be provided by the Forest Restaurant.
Popcorn and drinks will be sold with all proceeds going to the ASM/CH.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Department will be donating their time to cook their award winning pastalaya, which will be sold for $3 per serving with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the ASM/CH.
Thursday’s breakdown of activities begins with “Breakfast with the Beauties,” including an appearance by Miss Louisiana 2019 Meagan Crews at 7:30 a.m. at the Lamp Post Reception Facility in Franklin.

Breakfast will be prepared by the Morgan City High School’s Culinary Arts Restaurant Management Program; and guest speakers for the hour-long breakfast include Dr. Kimberly Bibbins and Dr. Kristi Prejeant.
From 8-10 a.m., health screenings will be available, as well.
On Main Street, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., various medical agencies, local programs and area services will take part in a walking tour and health fair for all ages.
A luncheon will be held at the Lamp Post, kicking-off with the “Healthier Air for All” presentation at 11:30 a.m.
At 12 p.m., luncheoners will hear from the panel of guest speakers, featuring Lyman White; co-owner and personal trainer for Next Level Fitness, and former New Orleans Saints/Nicholls Colonels player Garrick Spain; and Next Level Fitness personal trainer, University of Louisiana Lafayette instructor, and author and motivational speaker Seanathan Polidore Msp.

Finally, the festival will wrap-up on Saturday, from 5:30 p.m. until dark at St. Mary Parish Courthouse square, beginning with the Walk for Christ/gospel band performance at 6 p.m., followed by a glow ride whereby participants will have their several and various modes of transportation made to glow, with the most creative entrants earning prizes.
Entry fee for the glow ride will be $10.
And, a bully-free dodgeball tournament will be held in the St. Mary Parish Courthouse Annex after the Walk for Christ, and will be free for participants.
