St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Anslum reported the arrest of a Baldwin man on multiple drug charges.
Dontrell Colbert, 21, of 626 Bollard St., Baldwin, was arrested Wednesday at 3:34 a.m. on charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II Xanax, possession of Schedule V promethazine, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of a uniform controlled dangerous substance law drug free zone.
Deputies working on Lockley Street in Baldwin smelled the odor of marijuana coming from a residence. Deputies observed a bag of marijuana inside a car parked outside of the residence. A deputy spoke with Colbert and learned that the marijuana belonged to him. Deputies developed information that more drugs were inside the residence and obtained a search warrant. The residence is within 2,000 feet of a church. Colbert was transported to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for booking. No bail is set.
