Arlanda Williams

Workforce development specialist will speak at Helping Hearts Banquet

Dr. Arlanda Williams, the workforce development vice chancellor at Delgado Community College and the first woman to have chaired the Terrebonne Parish Council, will be the speaker at the Tri-City Helping Hearts annual charity banquet.
The banquet will be at 4 p.m. April 27 at the St. Mary Senior Citizens Center — the AARP building — at 4014 Chennault St., Morgan City. The event raises money to help citizens of Morgan City, Amelia, Berwick and Patterson pay for the burial expenses of loved ones.

Williams has senior administrative responsibility for the areas of workforce development, which provides job training and continuing education. Also under her leadership are the Delgado Maritime and Industrial Training Facility, the Advanced Manufacturing River City Site, the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program, several major federal grants and the Small Business Center.
Williams served for 13 years on the Terrebonne Parish Council, including her term as chair.
Williams serves on several board and commissions: the Southern University Board of Supervisors, the Terrebonne Parish Levee and Conservation District, the New Orleans Workforce Development Board, the Jefferson Parish Workforce Development Board, the Terrebonne General Hospital System Board of Commissioners, the Ochsner Medical West Bank Advisory Board, the West Bank Industrial Association, the New Orleans Regional Black Chamber of Commerce Executive Board, and many others.
Williams is a graduate of Southern University at New Orleans, having earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and a Master’s Degree in criminal justice.
She is also a 2014 graduate of Southern University at Baton Rouge, where she earned an Executive Master of Public Administration degree. Williams is also a 2022 doctoral graduate of the Nelson Mandela School of Public Policy at Southern University.
She is a graduate of Leadership Terrebonne in 2007 and a recent graduate of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System Certified Workforce Developer Program.
Williams is a member of the Plymouth Rock Baptist Church of Houma, where she serves on the Trustee Board under the leadership of Dr. Blair A. Mitchell Sr.
