Woman gets fourth DWI arrest in Berwick

Berwick police made four drunk-driving arrests between Thursday and Sunday, including a Thibodaux woman who is facing her fourth DWI charge.
Morgan City and St. Mary Parish authorities also made drunk-driving arrests over the weekend.

Berwick
Police Chief David Leonard reported these arrests:
—Francine Templet, 39, Rodrigue Street, Thibodaux, was arrested at 6:13 p.m. Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated (fourth offense) with child endangerment, driving under suspension for prior DWI charges, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and resisting an officer.
About 5:38 p.m. Sunday, the Berwick Police Department received a call about a reckless driver. A traffic stop was conducted, and officers made contact with the driver, Templet, and two small children who were in the vehicle.
During the course of the stop, Templet showed signs of impairment, and field sobriety tests were conducted. Templet performed poorly on some portions of the tests and refused the others.
Templet was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department. Upon arrival at the Berwick Police Department, Templet began to resist officers. Templet refused to submit a breath sample and a warrant was obtained for her blood.
Blood samples were collected and it was learned that she had been previously convicted of three prior DWI arrests in recent years. The blood samples were sent to the crime lab for toxicology screening and she was booked. Templet remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
—Mikayla Rock, 25, Mercury Road, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:38 a.m. Saturday on charges of driving while intoxicated and speeding 58 mph in a 30 mph zone.
About 2:04 a.m. Saturday, officers conducting radar in the area of the La. 182 bridge observed a vehicle speeding. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and officers made contact with the driver, identified as Rock.
During the course of the stop, Rock showed signs of impairment. Rock performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. Rock was transported to the Berwick Police Department where she provided a valid breath sample of 0.174G% BAC.
Rock was booked and later posted a $3,000 bond.
—Miracle Blackburn, 19, Cherry Street, Patterson was arrested at 1:59 p.m. Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), possession of Xanax, possession of a legend drug and reckless operation of a motor vehicle with a crash.
About 1:30 p.m. Sunday, officers in the area of U.S. 90 observed two vehicles that appeared to be involved in a crash. Officers stopped to investigate and learned that the driver of one of the vehicles struck the rear of the other.
One driver was identified as Blackburn. While speaking with Blackburn, she showed signs of impairment and was asked to perform field sobriety tests on which she per-formed poorly. A search of her vehicle was conducted and a Xanax pill was located inside.
Blackburn was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department, where a Seroquel pill was located on her person. Blackburn provided a breath sample of 0.007 G% BAC. Blood samples were collected from Blackburn where they were sent to the crime lab for toxicology screening. Black-burn was booked.
Blackburn remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
—Ethan Nguyen, 20, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:24 a.m. Monday on a charge of driving while intoxicated (first offense).
About 3:24 a.m. Monday, an officer observed a vehicle pull in the parking lot of a closed business. The officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Nguyen.
While speaking with Nguyen, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected coming from his breath and person and the officer observed his speech to be slurred. Nguyen admitted to have been drinking earlier in the night.
Nguyen refused to perform field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. Nguyen was transported to the Berwick Police Department, where he refused to provide a breath sample. A search warrant was obtained for his blood and samples were collected.
The samples were sent to the crime lab for toxicology screening. Nguyen was then booked and posted a $2,500 bond.
—Draven Vanmatre, 19, K Street, Patterson, was arrested at 8:03 p.m. Thursday on warrants alleging unlawful sale or possession of tobacco products and contributing the delinquency of a minor.
About 9:30 p.m. Thursday, the Berwick Police Department received a complaint of a person selling vape products to juveniles in the area. Through the course of the investigation, it was learned that Vanmatre was selling these products to juveniles.
A warrant was issued and he turned himself into the Berwick Police Department. Vanmatre was booked and released on a summons to appear in court.
—Chris Frank, 41, Baton Rouge, was arrested at 10:13 p.m. Friday on a Thibodaux Police Department warrant alleging home invasion and domestic abuse battery.
About 9:50 p.m. Friday, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for a speeding violation. Officers made contact with the driver Frank.
During the course of the stop, it was learned that Frank had two active warrants through the Thibodaux Police Department. Frank was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked. Following the booking process, Frank was transported to the Thibodaux Police Department.

Morgan City
Police Chief James F. Blair reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 92 calls for service over the last 72-hour reporting period and made these arrests beginning Friday:
—Aketa Racquel Francis, 29, Egle Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:57 a.m. Friday on a 6th Ward Morgan City Court warrant alleging two counts of failure to appear for trial.
—Steven Michael Boudreaux, 40, Parro Lane, Berwick, was arrested at 11:25 p.m. Friday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense) and careless operation.
—Shakettia Nichole Skinner, 31, Arizona Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:13 p.m. Sunday on a 6th Ward Morgan City Court warrant alleging failure to appear for arraignment.

St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 101 complaints and made these arrests:
—Latisha Denise Randle, 43, Baldwin, was arrested at 7:39 a.m. Friday on charges of improper lane usage and driving under suspension. Randle was released on a summons to appear May 10.
—Aubrey Joseph Daigle Jr., 45, Berwick, was arrested 10:48 a.m. Friday on charges of improper lane usage and driving under suspension. Daigle was released on a summons to appear May 10.
—Anthony Joseph Beard, 45, Franklin, was arrested at 10:14 p.m. Friday on charges of disturbing the peace (intoxicated), disturbing the peace (language), three counts of battery on a police officer, two counts of resisting arrest or officer and self-mutilation by a prisoner, and on a warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of criminal neglect of family.
Bail has not been set.
—Kenneth Lee Benoit, 41, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:40 p.m. Friday on charges of introduction of contraband into a penal institution and possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II drug.
Benoit was released on a summons to appear May 10.
—Dwayne Peter Shaw Jr., 27, Franklin, was arrested at 11:54 p.m. Saturday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of speeding and failing to honor a written promise to appear. Shaw was released on a $380 bond.
—Braylon Seltzer, 28, Marrero, was arrested at 11:24 p.m. Saturday on charges of driving under suspension, general speed law and turning movements and required signals. Seltzer was released on a summons to appear May 10.
—Nolan Lee McNabb, 18, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:28 pm for disturbing the peace by fighting and simple battery. Bail was set at $3,500.
—John Clifton Aucoin, 40, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:28 p.m. Saturday on charges of disturbing the peace by fighting and simple battery. Bail was set at $3,500.
—Toni Turner, 55, Gibson, was arrested at 3:19 p.m. Saturday on a charge of theft. Turner was released on a summons to appear May 10.
—Nicole B. Theriot, 49, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:07 p.m. Sunday on a charge of theft. Theriot was released on a summons to appear May 10.
—Clinton Wayne Ganaway Jr., 37, Berwick, was at 6:18 p.m. Sunday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of meth, possession of synthetic cannabinoids, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has been set on the failure to appear charges at $5,000.
—Loreal Verge Druilhet, 26, Franklin, was arrested at 10:43 p.m. Saturday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of battery of a dating partner and simple battery. Bail was set at $2,500.
—Eulalia Homerette McCoy, 27, Franklin, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. Saturday on charges of maximum speed limit, driving under suspension, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McCoy was released on a summons to appear May.
—Ian Randall Sanders, 32, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:53 p.m. Sunday on charges of driving on roadway laned for traffic and driving while intoxicated (first offense). Bail was set at $5,250.
—Wibray Joseph Dauntain, 27, Franklin, was arrested at 6:58 p.m. Sunday on charges on no headlights, failure to dim headlights, driving under suspension, resisting arrest or officer, obstruction of justice (tampering) and open container.
Bail was set at $9,500.
—Juvenile male, 16, Centerville, was arrested at 4:55 a.m. Monday on a charge of simple battery. The juvenile male was released into the custody of a guardian pend-ing juvenile court proceed-ings.

Franklin
Police Chief Morris Beverly said the Franklin Police Department responded to 23 complaints over the past weekend and made the following arrests:
—Joel Loustalot, 35, Cayce Street, Franklin, was arrested at 6:28 a.m. Saturday on a warrant dated Dec. 21 and alleging three counts of dangerous and vicious animals. Loustalot was booked, processed, and held on a $750 bond.
—Mai Francis, 22, Lee Street, Franklin, was arrested at 1:33 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage. Francis was booked, processed and released on a $250 bond.
—Garron Prince, 37, Guidroz Street, Franklin, was arrested at 4:30 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for 3rd Ward City Court for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace (intoxicated). Prince was booked, processed and released on a $209 bond.
—Tamika Jackson, 47, Anderson Street, Franklin, was arrested at 2:50 Sunday on a warrant dated Jan. 19 and alleging disturbing the peace (fighting) and obstructing public passages. Jackson was booked, processed and released on a $2,000 bond.
—Stanford Lee, 46, Gates Drive, Franklin, was arrested at 6:26 p.m. Saturday on a warrant dated April 21 and alleging domestic abuse battery and simple assault. Lee was booked, processed and released on a $3,500 bond.
—Brandon Butler, 22, Anderson Street, Franklin, was arrested at at 1:49 a.m. on a charge of aggravated battery. Butler was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
