4:45 P.M. UPDATE: Facebook is back after more than 5-hour outage
Social media giant Facebook experienced a major outage Monday.
The outage began about 10:15 a.m. Monday and continued through the noon hour. The Facebook website returned an error message when a login was attempted, and the Facebook Android Facebook app also refused to load new content.
"We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience," according to a tweet by Facebook.
Access to Facebook was available again at The Daily Review office about 4:45 p.m. Monday.
The outage also affected Facebook's WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram apps.
Media reports say the last Facebook outage on this scale happened in 2019. Total restoration of the service required 24 hours.
