On Monday, Morgan City police reported several complaints about vehicle burglaries in Lakeside Subdivision, and Berwick police reported similar complaints from Country Club Estates and Renwick subdivisions.
According to Morgan City police, the investigation turned up several videos of surveillance that led to a vehicle description along with potential suspects. There was information from the Berwick Police Department in regards to several burglaries that occurred in their jurisdiction that linked the Morgan City investigations.
Early Tuesday, patrol officers located a vehicle fitting the description. Officers were able to gain access to the vehicle in which suspected marijuana and a firearm that was reported stolen in Pearl River were located, Morgan City police said.
The vehicle was linked to a room at a local hotel in the area of La. 182.
Investigators with the Detectives Division executed a search on the room in which Grayson, Madere, Demourelle, and Robinson were identified as suspects in the investigation.
Investigators with the Morgan City and Berwick departments located 10 firearms along with cellular devices, money and credit cards that are believed to have been taken during burglaries in multiple jurisdictions.
Seven of these firearms were confirmed stolen from several areas that include Morgan City, Berwick, and St. Tammany and Rapides parishes.
Investigators were able to link Grayson, Demourelle and Robinson as the culprits in the burglaries, the Morgan City department said. Madere, who was not linked to the burglaries, was found to be named in arrest warrants through the St. Tammany Parish and St. Bernard Parish sheriff’s offices.
Robinson had fled the scene before the investigation and is still at large with active arrest warrants for his arrest held by the Morgan City Police Department. Grayson, Madere and Demourelle were placed under arrest and booked into the Morgan City Jail.
The investigation continues, and the Berwick Police Department is expected to have additional charges in regards to the investigations in that jurisdiction.
Morgan City Police Chief James F. Blair and the Morgan City Police Department expressed sincere gratitude to all of the community partners who provided video that helped the investigation.
