(Updated) Police: Driver sustains moderate injuries after vehicle flips

At 10:10 a.m. Thursday, Berwick police responded to a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 90 west about a mile west of the Berwick Bay bridge. The driver of a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer, Mai McNeeley, 66, of Amelia, told police that some type of bug flew into her window, distracted her and caused her to lose control of the vehicle, Police Chief James Richard said. The vehicle left the roadway, traveled into the median of U.S. 90, flipped and landed upright, Richard said. There were no other occupants inside. McNeeley was transported by Acadian Ambulance to Teche Regional Medical Center to be treated for moderate injuries. She was also cited for careless operation and driving under suspension.
