A Pierre Part man under investigation for sex crimes with a juvenile victim has been arrested on charges that also include drug crimes.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest Saturday:

— James Gregoire, 66, North Curtis Street, Pierre Part, was arrested on charges of computer-aided solicitation of a minor (felony), distribution of marijuana, distribution of methamphetamine, misdemeanor sexual battery, attempted possession of pornography involving juveniles and solicitation of prostitution (felony).

The Sheriff’s Office recently received a complaint in which Gregoire was identified as a suspect in numerous sex crimes upon a juvenile.

Detectives and deputies initiated a complex investigation that quickly identified Gregoire as having committed numerous sex crimes upon the victim in question through use of electronic social media outlets.

Investigators determined that Gregoire allegedly communicated with the victim requesting certain pornographic material in exchange for illegal drugs and in fact did provide illegal narcotics to this individual.

It is believed that Gregoire made additional offers sexual in nature to the juvenile, which were declined.

A search warrant was requested and granted for the home of Gregory, resulting in the seizure of various illegal drugs.

Gregoire was also previously charged with possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia, possession of Xanax (felony) possession of methamphetamine (felony), possession of marijuana (first offense) and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

At the conclusion of the matter, Gregoire was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on the aforementioned charges and remains in custody pending court proceedings.
