UPDATED WITH LOCAL ARRESTS: Police say man tried to break into Berwick home

A Morgan City man was arrested early Friday after trying to break into a Berwick home, local arrest reports say.
Berwick
Police Chief David Leonard reported that the Berwick Police Department made these arrests:
—Trevor Hebert Sr., 26, Vine Drive, Morgan City was arrested at 3:46 a.m. Friday on charges of home invasion and simple criminal damage to property.
About 3:23 a.m. Friday, the Berwick Police Department received a call through 911 advising of a possible burglary in progress.
Through the course of gathering information from the complainant, it was learned that Hebert forced himself into the complainant’s residence, then left in a vehicle.
A description of the vehicle was given to responding officers, at which time officers located it while en route to the residence. A traffic stop was conducted, and officers made contact with Hebert.
Through the course of the investigation, Hebert admitted to forcibly making entry into the complainant’s residence, causing damages to the door and door frame.
Hebert was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department, where he was booked.. Hebert remains in jail with no bond set at this time.
—Benjamin Pittman, 19, Sixth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:30 a.m. Friday on charges of possession of marijuana (under 14 grams), possession of drug paraphernalia and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
On Friday, officers with the Berwick Police Department observed a vehicle riding in a field behind the Civic Center on Patti Drive.
Officers made contact with driver, Pittman. He said he was just riding around along the edge of the field.
While speaking with Pittman, officers could smell an odor of raw marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Pittman admitted to smoking marijuana in the vehicle earlier in the night.
Officers located items of drug paraphernalia and marijuana inside. The items were collected as evidence. Pittman was placed under arrest. He was released on a summons to appear in court.
—Terry J. Anslum, 49, Pecan Grove, Berwick, was arrested at 7:05 a.m. Friday on a Berwick Police Department warrant alleging second-degree domestic abuse battery by strangulation.
At 7:05 a.m. Friday, Anslum entered the Berwick Police Department and turned himself in on the outstanding warrant through the Berwick Police Department. The warrant stems from an investigation into a domestic incident that occurred Sept. 5.
During that incident, Anslum committed a battery on the victim that required her to receive medical treatment.
During the investigation, officers learned that Anslum had already left the state. Therefore, a warrant was prepared for his arrest.
Anslum was booked into the Berwick Jail, where he remains pending a bond hearing.
St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith reported these arrests:
—Jeremy Pollock, 22, Morgan City, was arrested at 7 a.m. Friday on charges of license plate light and no insurance. Pollock was released on a summons to appear Jan. 4.
—Jessica Deane, 30, Franklin, was arrested at 3:41 p.m. Friday on a charge of hit and run and driving under suspension. Deane was released on a summons to appear Jan. 4.
—Juvenile male, 15, Patterson, was arrested at 9:10 p.m. Friday on a charge of hit and run. The boy was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Amber Brooke Fendley, 36, Berwick, was arrested at 5:58 p.m. Friday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charge of simple burglary. Fendley was released on a $15,000 bond.
—Darrell Wayne Bennett Jr., 38, Lake Charles, was arrested at 10:10 p.m. Saturday on charges of maximum speed limit and driving under suspension. Bennett was released on a summons to appear Jan. 4.
—Richard Pickney, 30, Walterboro, South Carolina, was arrested at 12:49 a.m. Sunday on a charge of resisting arrest or officer. No bail has been set.
—Luis Fernando Castillo Garcia, 24, Dallas, was arrested at 12:54 a.m. Monday on charges of no driver’s license, driving while intoxicated and careless operation. Garcia was released on a $3,250 bond.
—Ja’Quan Montaque Verrett, 22, Franklin, was arrested at 11:09 a.m. Thursday on a charge of disturbing the peace (language). Verrett was released on a summons to appear Dec. 1.
—Courtney D’Juan Dupas, 38, Franklin, was arrested at 2:02 p.m. on charges of improper lane usage, possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of Schedule IV drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension.
—Daniel Key Jr., 20, Lafayette, was arrested at 3:59 p.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charge of illegal possession of a stolen firearm. Bail was set at $6,000.
—Edwin Elliot Lewis Jr., 37, Gray, was arrested at 8:26 p.m. Thursday on charges of general speed law and possession of drug paraphernalia. Lewis was released on a summons to appear Dec. 1.
—Kearsten Richard, 22, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:33 a.m. Thursday by the Narcotics Section on two warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of principal to possession with intent to distribute alprazolam; possession of marijuana: possession of drug paraphernalia; illegal use, consumption, possession or distribution of a controlled dangerous substance in the present of persons under 17; and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws (drug-free zone).
Richard also was named in two active Morgan City Police Department warrants alleging criminal damage to property, reckless operation with accident, and hit and run. Bail has not been set on the SMPSO warrants.
Morgan City
Police Chief James F. Blair reported these arrests beginning Thursday:
—Jamie T. Scarbrough Jr., 32, La. 182 Morgan City, was arrested at 9:30 a.m. Thursday on a charge of entry or remaining in places after being forbidden.
—Kearsten Richard, 22, La. 182, Morgan City, arrested 1:30 p.m. Thursday on a 6th Ward City Court of Morgan City warrant alleging four counts of failure to appear for trial May 27.
—Vicente Varrera Hernandez, 36, Village Lane, Amelia, was arrested at 6:35 p.m. Thursday on charges of careless operation with a crash and no driver’s license.
—Michael Andrew Bagwell, 42, South East 55th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was arrested at 6:49 a.m. Friday on charges of disturbing the peace (intoxicated) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Theodore Martell Harris, 35, Rodeo Circle Farmerville, was arrested at 8:02 p.m. Friday on a 6th Ward Morgan City Court warrant alleging failure to appear to pay find Feb. 4, 2014.
—Corlinn Francis, 18, Freret Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:12 p.m. Friday on charges of disturbing the peace by fighting and resisting an officer.
—Dawn Watson, 48, Apple Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:57 p.m. Friday on a warrant alleging theft ($1,000-$5,000).
—Chelsey D. Celestine, 30, Emy Lane, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:25 a.m. Saturday on a charge of disturbing the peace (intoxicated).
—Benjamin Troy Weaver, 45, Ninth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:07 p.m. Saturday on a charge of disturbing the peace (intoxicated).
—Edwin Alexander Molina, 39, Federal Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested on at 7:08 p.m. Saturday on charges of aggravated domestic abuse battery (strangulation) and aggravated domestic abuse battery (child endangerment law).
—Junior Saul Morales-Sanchez, 26, Duke Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:17 p.m. Saturday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), improper lane usage and no driver’s license.
—Shane Paul McCarthy, 50, David Street, Pierre Part, was arrested at 3:41 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession of methamphetamine and disturbing the peace.
—Alysha M. Carlton, 31, Gen. Patton Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:41 p.m. Sunday on a charge of disturbing the peace and on a 6th Ward Morgan City Court warrant alleging two counts of failure to appear for trial Sept. 19.
—Andrew Clarke, 38, Roderick Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:43 p.m. Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense) and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
—Grace Riggins, 27, Columbus Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:57 p.m. Sunday on a charge of possession of marijuana.
—Tanara Walker, 25, Wren Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:57 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession of marijuana and simple assault.
—Randeisha Marie Jones, 26, Grandwood Drive, Patterson, was arrested at 8:57 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Franklin
Police Chief Morris Beverly that the Franklin Police Department made these arrests:
—Reginald Layton, 42, Rod Lane, Baldwin, was arrested, at 7:36 a.m. Thursday on the charges of speeding and operating a vehicle under suspension for certain prior offenses.
Layton was booked, processed and released on a $3,250 bond.
—Shawn Scully, 46, Cedar Street, Franklin, was arrested at 11:05 a.m. Thursday on a warrant dated Wednesday alleging domestic abuse battery. Scully was booked, processed and held with no bond set at time of press release.
—Travis Boatman, 41, Carl C. Foulcard Street, Franklin, was arrested at 4:21 p.m. Saturday on the charges of resisting arrest and interference with officers (two counts), and on a warrant dated Feb. 2 on the charges of possession with the intent to distribute Schedule I drug (three counts), possession with the intent to distribute Schedule II drugs (three counts), violation of controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zones), possession of drug paraphernalia (two counts), obstruction of public passage, and stopped, standing, and parking.
Boatman was additionally arrested on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant alleging failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family.
Boatman was booked, processed, and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
