Two face drug charges after stop near Amelia

Assumption Parish authorities arrested two people on drug charges Tuesday after a traffic stop near Amelia.
Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon reported these arrests:
—Tait Michael Guidry, 29, Texas Gulf Road, Bourg, was arrested Tuesday on charges of prohibited acts (Schedule II, Adderall), no seat belt, driving under a suspended driver’s license, driving on a roadway laned for traffic and failure to drive on right of road.
—Dorissa Ann Chauvin, 31, Dewey Street, Houma, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of prohibited acts (Schedule I).
The charges resulted from a Tuesday afternoon traffic stop on U.S. 90.
A uniformed patrol officer observed a vehicle commit multiple traffic violations and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Guidry. The officer conducted an violator interview.
The deputy noted that the suspect was not following simple commands. The deputy opted to detain Guidry due to safety protocol. At this time, Guidry became belligerent and uncooperative.
The deputy made contact with the passenger, identified as Chauvin, and interviewed her as well. The deputy decided that additional investigation was warranted.
A K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle, which produced a positive result for illegal controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of a quantity of the prescription drug identified as Adderall.
Tait and Guidry were booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and remain incarcerated pending bond hearing.
—Lucretia A. Cavalier, 57, La. 70, Pierre Part, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
—Kimberly Latimer, 34, Keith Street, Pierre Part, was cited Tuesday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Dennis Cavalier, 53, Keith Street, Pierre Part, was cited Tuesday for possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Sheriff’s Office has received complaints at the Keith Street address pertaining to illegal drug activity.
Narcotics agents conducted investigation and surveillance at the location and did establish sufficient probable cause to obtain a search warrant.
On Tuesday, agents and deputies executed the warrant and did seize assorted drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and methamphetamine.
Lucretia Cavalier remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Morgan City
Police Chief James F. Blair reported that over the last 24-hour period, the Morgan City Police Department responded to 38 calls for service and made this arrest:
—Carl Joseph Dupas, 58, Iberia Street, Franklin, was arrested at 04:30 a.m. Wednesday on charges of disturbing the peace (intoxicated) and entry on or remaining in places after forbidden.
St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 24 complaints and made this arrest:
—Lorenzo H. Phillips, 28, Patterson, was arrested at 1:23 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging simple burglary. Phillips was released on a $3,000 bond.
