Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest
--Justin George Lacoste Jr., 35, Clinton Street, Chauvin, was arrested Tuesday on charges of resisting an officer and illegal window tint, and as a fugitive from Terrebonne Parish on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance and multiple traffic offenses.
The charges result from a traffic stop in Bayou L’Ourse on Tuesday morning.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle on La. 662 with an equipment violation and attempted a stop of that vehicle.
The suspect driver continued on and failed to stop within a reasonable amount of time and distance. The suspect eventually pulled over after engaging the deputy in a slow pursuit for approximately 1.5 miles.
The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Lacoste and conducted an interview. Lacoste conceded that he wasn’t stopping because he had multiple outstanding warrants originating in Terrebonne Parish. Deputies were able to confirm the validity of those warrants.
Lacoste was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
