Three law enforcement agencies report arrests on battery charges

(Editor’s note: The charges listed here and the narratives that go with them are provided by the police agencies that made the arrests. Guilt or innocence has not been determined in court.)

Charges of battery figured in arrests this week by Morgan City police and St. Mary and Assumption deputies, police reports say.

Morgan City
Police Chief James F. Blair reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 40 calls for service within the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests beginning Thursday:
—Horace Perkins, 68, homeless, was arrested at 3 a.m. Friday on charges of disturbing the peace (intoxicated), battery on a police officer and resisting an officer.
—Hunter Chauvin, 25, Shady Oak Court, Houma, was arrested at 6:42 a.m. Thursday on charges of possession of marijuana (second offense), possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding 70 mph in a 50 mph construction zone, operating a vehicle under suspension for driving while intoxicated and no insurance.
—Jamie T. Scarbrough Jr., 32, La. 663, Morgan City, was arrested at 3 p.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging possession of methamphetamine.
—James Wesley Hood III, 59, Dupree Street, Houma, was arrested in 9:22 p.m. Thursday on a charge of disturbing the peace (intoxicated).

St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 46 complaints and made these arrests:
—Danielle Breaux, 39, Patterson, was arrested at 10:01 a.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging domestic abuse battery. Breaux was released on a summons to appear Jan. 4.
—James Breaux, 36, Patterson, was arrested at 10:33 a.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging domestic abuse battery. Breaux was released on a summons to appear Jan. 4.
—Michael Paul Bergeron, 43, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:11 a.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging battery of a dating partner. Bergeron was released on a summons to appear Jan. 4.
—Darryl Gibson, 60, Baldwin, was arrested at 11:05 a.m. Thursday on charges of turning movements and required signals; switched license plate or stolen license plate; driving under suspension; and no insurance.
Gibson was released on a summons to appear Jan. 4.
—Blake Jacoby Smith, 30, Patterson, was arrested at 11:43 a.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle while license is suspended, revoked, or canceled; speeding; and flight from an officer. Smith was released on a summons to appear Jan. 4.
Ross Joseph David, 33, Metairie, was arrested at 12:53 a.m. on a charge of driving while intoxicated with accident. Bail was set at $4,000.

Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:
—Michael Hue, 27, Lee Drive, Pierre Part, was arrested on Livingston Parish warrants alleging cruelty to juveniles with force or violence and domestic abuse battery with child endangerment.
Deputies received warrants from Livingston Parish for the arrest of Hue. Last weekend, deputies located Hue at a local RV park. When deputies approached Hue, he fled on foot.
A short time later, the deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 3300 block of La. 70. During the stop, the deputy recognized Hue as a backseat passenger and took him into custody.
Hue was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on fugitive warrants and will be transferred to the custody of Livingston Parish.
