Theft, burglary charges among Monday arrests

Local police agencies reported six arrests Monday and early Tuesday, including a Morgan City man accused of theft and burglary.

Morgan City

Interim Police Chief Mark E. Griffin Jr. reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 58 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Randy Geromone Clark, 35, Belanger Street, Morgan City, was arrested on two counts of theft under $1,000, criminal trespassing, simple burglary and criminal damage to property.

--Peter Emmanuel Grogan Jr., 44, Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:07 p.m. Monday on four counts of failure to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to 28 complaints made these arrests:

--Jamie Chris August, 46, Jeanerette, was arrested at 3:58 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charge of domestic abuse battery. Bail has not been set.

--Ramus Anthony Martin, 56, Amelia, was arrested at 11:01 p.m. Monday on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Bail has not been set.

Franklin

Police Chief Morris Beverly reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to eight complaints over the past 24 hours and made these arrests:

--Jakyius Payton, 18, Caffery Street, Franklin, was arrested at 4:32 p.m. Monday on a charge of disturbing the peace. Payton was booked, processed and held on a $1,000 bond.

--James Oglesby, 41, Iberia Street, Franklin, was arrested at 3:34 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for 23rd Judicial District Court alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Oglesby was additionally arrested on a warrant for the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of a Schedule I drug and possessing contraband.

Oglesby was booked, processed, and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
