St. Mary identifies top growth schools
An early look at results of the 2024 LEAP tests puts seven St. Mary schools among the top performers and six subjects where proficiency increased most.
More results will be released in the fall, the St. Mary school system said in a Facebook post.
The top growth schools in St. Mary:
•Patterson High School was up 2.2 points on its school performance score. Patterson High has an A letter grade in the school accountability system.
•Morgan City Junior High grew by 4.5 points.
•Patterson Junior High is up 3.8 points.
•Lagrange Elementary grew by an eye-popping 12.5 points.
•J.B. Maitland Elementary grew by 9.2 points.
•W.P. Foster Elementary grew by 9.1 points.
•J.S. Aucoin was up by 8.5 points.
Top areas of proficiency gains include:
•Algebra I, up 11 points.
•Biology, up 4 points.
•Fifth-grade English-language arts and math, up 3 points.
•Eighth-grade math, up 3 points.
•Fourth-grade ELA, up two points.
•Seventh-grade science, up two points.
The school system said its plan for the 2025-26 school year includes:
•Continued focus on data-driven instruction.
•Strategic supports for struggling learners.
•Professional development in high-impact instruction strategies.
•Collaboration with families and communities to build strong foundations.
