Six drug arrests by Morgan City, Berwick police
Morgan City police reported two drug arrests Thursday and Berwick officers reported four, while Franklin officers made three on battery and fighting charges
Morgan City
Police Chief James F. Blair reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 44 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:
—Beatrice D. Sims, 31, Baker Drive, Houma, was arrested at 7:54 a.m. Thursday on charges of possession of alprazolam, speeding 68 mph in a 50 mph zone and driving under suspension, and as a fugitive from 32nd Judicial District Court.
—Victoria Prince, 55, Fourth Street, Berwick, was arrested at 11:40 a.m. Thursday on a charge of theft under $1,000.
—Lydia Mary Boudreaux, 32, Ramos Street, Amelia, was arrested at 9:56 p.m. Thursday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine and on a 6th Ward Morgan City Court warrant alleging failure to appear to pay fine.
Berwick
Police Chief David Leonard Sr. reported these arrests:
—Leslie Johnson, 27, Freret Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:32 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of Suboxone, possession of marijuana (under 14 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Tyler Davidson, 29, Pharr Street, Berwick, was arrested at 10:32 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of marijuana (under 14 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Davidson was also booked on an Assumption warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of hit and run, careless operation and driving under suspension.
—Elaina Ashmore, 22, Third Street, Berwick, was arrested at 10:32 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of marijuana (under 14 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Debra Mills, 51, Francis Street, Berwick, was arrested at 10:32 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of marijuana (under 14 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 9:40 p.m. Thursday, officers with the Berwick Police Department went to a residence on Francis Street for an investigation. During the investigation, officers could smell marijuana emitting from the residence.
Officers made contact with Mills, Davidson, Ashmore and Johnson. Officers received consent to search the residence.
Officers located marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Johnson was found to be in possession of Suboxone. All the subjects were placed under arrest.
Johnson was transported to the town jail for booking, where he remains with a $1,500 bond. Mills, Ashmore, and Davidson were issued summons to appear in court. Davidson was also booked on an Assumption warrant.
—Oscar Vivera, 42, Berlin Street, Lafayette, was arrested at 8:34 p.m. Thursday on charges of speeding 65 mph in a 50 mph zone, no driver’s license and failure to register vehicle.
About 7:59 p.m. Thursday, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on U.S. 90 West for speeding 65 mph in the posted 50 mph speed zone. The driver was identified as Vivera, and officers learned that he did not have a driver’s license.
The vehicle he was driving was not registered, which is required by state law. Vivera was placed under arrest and booked into the Berwick Jail, where he was released after posting a $478 cash bond.
Franklin
Police Chief Morris Beverly reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 10 complaints over the past 24 hours and made these arrests:
—Kenvonna Charles, 36, Mildred Street, Franklin, was arrested at 10:54 a.m. Thursday on charges of aiding, abetting, and assisting, and resisting arrest. Charles was booked, processed and released on a $3,000 bond.
—Mekhi Matthews, 18, Mildred Street, Franklin, was arrested at 12:14 p.m. Thursday on a charge of simple battery. Matthews was booked, processed and released on a $1,500 bond.
—Crystal Bourgeois, 49, Ninth Street, Franklin, was arrested at 12:25 p.m. Thursday on a charge of simple battery. Bourgeois was booked, processed and released to appear in 3rd Ward City Court.
—Aalyiah Batiste, 21, Cayce Street, Franklin, was arrested at 8:31 p.m. Thursday on a warrant dated Oct. 27 on the charges of obstructing public passages and disturbing the peace by fighting. Batiste was additionally charged with warrants for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on the charges of speeding and disturbing the peace (fighting). Batiste was booked, processed and held on a $2,513 bond
