Sheriff's Office arrests two men on gun and drug charges

Drugs and guns were paired in more arrests early Thursday, this time in cases worked by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Those arrests follow another earlier this week after a report of a man brandishing a rifle led to his arrest on methamphetamine and Xanax possession charges by Morgan City police.
'St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 41 complaints and made these arrests:
—Teaireius D. Brumfeld, 24, Lafayette, was arrested at 3:22 a.m. Thursday by the Narcotics/Interdiction Section on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of MDMA, prohibited acts (drug paraphernalia) and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
No bail has been set.
—Darren Rideaux Jr., 21, Lafayette, was arrested at 4:32 a.m. Thursday by the Narcotics/Interdiction Section on charges of no license plates, no driver’s license, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
No bail has been set.
—Gregory Williams Sr., 61, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:48 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal trespassing. Williams was released on a summons to appear Aug. 25.
—Juvenile male, 16, Amelia, was arrested at noon Wednesday on a charge of domestic abuse battery. The juvenile was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Mary Anne Landry, 43, Denham Springs, was arrested at 12:47 a.m. Thursday on charges of criminal trespass and attempted burglary. No bail has been set.
—Charles Anthony Preece, 32, Berwick, was arrested at 1:21 a.m. Thursday on charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute Schedule IV drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bail has not been set.
—Juvenile male, 17, Lafayette, was arrested Wednesday charges of possession of marijuana, possession of THC wax, possession of Schedule I drugs, illegal carrying of a weapon, illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
The juvenile was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Larry Billiot III, 20, Franklin, was arrested at 3:22 p.m. Wednesday by the Narcotics Section on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of THC edibles.
Billiot was released on a $10,000 bond.
—Jocelynn A. Giroir, 18, Franklin, was arrested at 3:22 p.m. Wednesday by the Narcotics Section on a charge of possession of marijuana. Giroir was released on a summons to appear Aug. 25.
Franklin
Police Chief Morris Beverly said his department responded to 11 complaints over the past 24 hours and made this arrest:
—Marie Sophus, 65, Isabella Street, Franklin, was arrested at 10:04 a.m. Wednesday on charges of resisting an officer, remaining where forbidden and criminal trespassing. Sophus was booked, processed and released to appear in 3rd Ward City Court.
