Sheriff's Office and firefighters investigating possible explosive device in Centerville
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office is asking people to avoid the Chandra Lane area of Centerville after detectives found what the office describes as a "possible explosive device" at a home there.
During an active investigation at a residence on Chandra Lane, detectives found the device, the Sheriff's Office said.
"Working in conjunction with the Franklin Fire Department, Centerville Fire Department, and in contact with the Louisiana State Police, safety protocols have been identified and implemented while first responders are working the scene," the Sheriff's Office said in a Monday afternoon press release.
To preserve the public’s safety, the area is blocked off, the Sheriff's Office said.
Further information will be available at the conclusion of the investigation.
