Sheriff's deputies make arrest in racketeering case

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section made four arrests Tuesday, including one on racketeering and conspiracy charges, arrest reports said.

St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office made these arrests:
—Milton Howard Sr., 36, Jeanerette, was arrested at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday by the Narcotics Section on a Louisiana State Police warrant for the charge of racketeering activities and conspiracy to commit racketeering activities. Howard was released on a $150,000 bond.
—Chad A. Ross Jr., 28, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:16 p.m. Tuesday by the Narcotics Section on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Ross was released on a summons to appear Aug. 25.
—Brian Henderson, 38, Berwick, was arrested at 7:16 p.m. Tuesday by the Narcotics Section on a charge of possession of marijuana. Henderson was released on a summons to appear Aug. 25.
—Candice Lee Ross, 35, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:16 p.m. Tuesday by the Narcotics Section on charge of window tint and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ross was released on a summons to appear Aug. 25.
—Quentin Theodore Delco, 39, Bayou Vista, was at 12:51 a.m. Wednesday on charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule I drugs, possession of Schedule II drugs and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a drug-free zone.
No bail has been set.
—Juvenile male, 11, Franklin, was arrested at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of simple battery. The boy was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Antonio Riley Stearns, 35, New Iberia, was arrested at 9 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of speeding and no driver’s license. Stearns was released on a $288 bond.
—Bradley J. Lovell, 34, Theriot, was arrested at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday on charges of brake lights required and no insurance. Lovell was released on a summons to appear Aug. 25.

Franklin
Police Chief Morris Beverly said the Police Department responded to seven complaints over the past 24 hours and made these arrests:
—Gustavo Veregin, 31, Ditch Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:04 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. Veregin was booked, processed and released to appear in 16th Judicial District Court.
—Travion White, 19, Scottie Street, Franklin, was arrested at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of domestic abuse battery. White was booked, processed and released on a $2,500 bond.
—Amaya Darby, 19, Scottie Street, Franklin, was arrested at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday on charges of domestic abuse battery and aggravated assault. Darby was booked, processed and released on a $4,000 bond.

Assumption
Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:
—Jeremiah Thomas Singleton, 19, Degreville Street, Morgan City, was arrested Monday on a warrant from Probation and Parole.
On Feb. 18, Singleton was convicted of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance. Singleton was sentenced to a term of two years at hard labor, suspended, and placed on two years of supervised probation, which was scheduled to conclude Feb. 18, 2023.
Singleton violated certain conditions of his probation resulting in a warrant being issued by 23rd Judicial District Judge Cody Martin on April 27.
Singleton was arrested on Monday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Facility. Martin ordered Singleton held without bond.

St. Martin
Sheriff Becket Breaux reported these arrests:
—Joshua Davis, 32, was arrested Tuesday by the St. Martinville Police Department on charges of first-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and aggravated damage to property.
—Ashley Jacquet, 37, Perkins Street, St. Martinville, was arrested Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Service on a hold for that agency.
—Randel Ledet, 27, Grand Point Highways, Breaux Bridge, was arrested Tuesday on charges of resisting an officer and theft valued at $1,000-$4,999.
