Sheriff: Deputies make arrests after seeing drug deal

observed a hand-to-hand drug transaction from a vehicle on Friendship Alley in Amelia, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith said in a news release.
—Travis Holly, 40, of Friendship Alley in Amelia, was arrested at 5:36 a.m. Friday on charges of resisting an officer, obstruction of justice, distribution of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (crack cocaine), possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance (MDMA) and violation of a controlled dangerous substance law-drug free zone.
—Gregory Clements, 50, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 5:36 a.m. Friday on charges of obstructing public passages, obstruction of justice, distribution of Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (crack cocaine), open container and violation of a controlled dangerous substance law, drug free zone.
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section were patrolling the area of Friendship Alley when they observed a hand to hand transaction between two male subjects and a subject in a vehicle. The detectives detained the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Clements. The two subjects at the window of the vehicle fled on foot, but detectives apprehended Holly a short time later. Through the investigation, drugs were located. Both were jailed. Holly was subsequently released on a $10,000 bond. Clements was released on a $4,000 bond.
Smith also advised that the Sheriff’s Office responded to 100 complaints and the following arrests were made:
—Hunter John David, 26, of La. 717 in Gueydan, was arrested at 2:36 a.m. Monday on charges of license plate lights required, driving under suspension, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Simon Murphy Broussard, 35, of Pinewood Drive in Lake Charles, was arrested at 2:36 a.m. Sunday on charges of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Hannah Grace Hensarling, La. 22 of Ponchatoula, was arrested at 2:36 a.m. Monday on charges of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A deputy was monitoring traffic on U.S. 90 near the Bayou Vista Truck Stop when he observed a vehicle with no operable license plate lights. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, David, and two passengers, Broussard and Hensarling. Heroin, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found. All were jailed with no bail set.
—Madison Elizabeth Lodrigue, 18, of Darlene Street in Patterson, was arrested at 3:28 p.m. Friday on charges of turning movements and signals required, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on a summons to appear on May 1.
—Shal’jaup Earon Williams, 29, of Ellis Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:43 a.m. Friday on charges of turning movements and signals required, driving under suspension and resisting an officer by giving false information. He was jailed and later released on a $3,750 bond.
—Jacob Nathaniel Klenert, 25, of Seventh Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:26 p.m. Friday on a charge of probation violation. He was jailed with no bail set.
—Rickey Archangel, 62, of West Thirteenth Street in Port Arthur, Texas, was arrested at 6:26 p.m. Friday on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender and duty of offender to notify law enforcement of change of address. He was jailed with no bail set.
—Mickie Joe Druilhet Jr., 33, of Batiste Street in Baldwin, was arrested at 10:27 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of resisting an officer by providing false information, operating a vehicle while license is suspended/revoked/canceled, and operating a vehicle with an unlit license plate. He was jailed and later released on a $2,000 bond.
—Iris Marie Boyer, 59, of La. 668 in Jeanerette, was arrested at 11:20 p.m. Friday on charges of driving while intoxicated and improper lane usage. She was jailed and later released on a $3,000 bond.
—Shandace Latrice Harris, 31, of Adam Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:18 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. She was jailed with bail set at $27,214.53.
—Benjamin Roosevelt Cheramie, 49, of Willow Trail in Baton Rouge, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. Saturday on charges of proper equipment required on vehicles and driving under suspension. He was released on a summons to appear on May 1.
—Ebert Ramos Guillen, 53, of Magnolia Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:08 a.m. Saturday on charges of violation of protective orders. He was jailed with no bail set.
—Nata Henry Sedatol, 25, of Chitimacha Trail in Baldwin, was arrested at 12:54 a.m. Sunday on a charge of domestic abuse battery. He was jailed and later released on a $2,500 bond.
—Thalassa Lee Frickey, 42, of Pecos Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:57 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft of goods under $500. She was jailed with no bail set.
—Rayne Elizabeth Ferguson, 19, of Palmer Lane in Franklin, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. on a charge of battery of a dating partner. She was jailed with bail set at $1,000.
—Austin Michael Hebert, 22, of Palmer Lane in Franklin, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Sunday on charges of battery of a dating partner and possession of marijuana. He was jailed and later released on a $1,000 bond.
—Seth Aurelius Kidder, 39, of Hebert Road in Franklin, was arrested at 4:34 p.m. Sunday on charges of battery of a dating partner and violation of protective orders. He was jailed and later released on a $5,000 bond.
—Tasha Lynn Soprano, 39, of Hebert Road in Franklin, was arrested at 4:52 p.m. Sunday on a charge of battery of a dating partner. She was jailed with bail set at $2,500.
—Juvenile Male, 11, of Welch, was arrested at 6:15 p.m. Sunday on a charge of runaway juvenile. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Tiffany Miracle, 36, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:42 p.m. Sunday on charges of improper lane usage and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on a summons to appear on May 1.
—Claude Steward, 51, of North Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:38 p.m. Sunday on charges of improper lane usage and no insurance. He was released on a summons to appear on May 1.
Morgan City Police Chief James F. Blair reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 97 calls of service and the following arrests were made:
—Quijakius Johnson, 37, of Apple Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:01 p.m. Friday on charges of brake lamp required, resisting an officer, second offense possession of synthetic marijuana and obstruction of justice. A patrol officer observed a traffic violation in the area of Levee Road and Apple Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Johnson. During the traffic stop, Johnson attempted to flee on foot and conceal several small bags of suspected synthetic marijuana in his mouth. He was apprehended by officers and the suspected synthetic marijuana was recovered. He was jailed.
—Jeremy Jamal Andrews, 32, of Shaw Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:57 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for two counts of failure to appear. A patrol officer came into contact with Andrews in the area of Brashear Avenue and Seventh Street. A warrant check revealed the City Court of Morgan City held active warrants for Andrews. He was jailed.
—Craig Stanley French, 50, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:35 p.m. Saturday on a charge of first offense possession of marijuana. Officers were called to a Railroad Avenue address for a disturbance and came into contact with French. He was found in possession of suspected marijuana. He was jailed.
—Larosia Washington, 64, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:53 a.m. Sunday on charges of careless operation, vehicle license required, no motor vehicle insurance, illuminating devices required, proper equipment required on vehicles and possession of a legend drug without a prescription. A patrol officer observed a traffic violation in the area of Railroad Avenue and Myrtle Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Washington. It was learned the vehicle did not have a valid license plate, motor vehicle insurance and no motor vehicle inspection sticker. Washington was found to have a legend drug in his possession. He was jailed.
—Joseph James Thibodaux, 21, of West Ibert Street in Franklin, was arrested at 10:57 p.m. Sunday on warrants for the charges of possession of stolen things $1,000 to $5,000, criminal trespassing and possession of amphetamine. Franklin Police Department came into contact with Thibodeaux in Franklin, La. A warrant check revealed Morgan City Police Department held active warrants for his arrest. He was transferred from the Franklin Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department where he was jailed.
—Shane Eugene Richard, 25, of Gabriel Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:09 a.m. Monday on charges of disturbing the peace intoxicated and resisting an officer. Officers were called to a local business on First Street about an intoxicated person causing a disturbance. Officers came into contact with Richard and observed he was in an intoxicated condition causing a disturbance. When officers attempted to arrest Richard he pulled away from officers. Officers were able to handcuff him and place him under arrest. He was jailed.
—Kevin Darby, 29, of Martin Luther King Boulevard in Patterson, was arrested at 1:35 a.m. Monday on charges of child passenger restraint, driving under suspension and flight from an officer.
Officers were called to a local business on La. 182 about a vehicle with a small child in the vehicle unrestrained that had just pulled off the highway. Officers observed the vehicle exiting the parking lot onto La. 182 and observed the child in the vehicle was still unrestrained. The officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the vehicle fled from officers entering U.S. 90 into Berwick, La. The vehicle pulled over on U.S. Highway 90 in Berwick and the driver was identified as Darby. A computer check revealed his license was under suspension. He was jailed.
—Norman Joseph Vinning Jr., 53, of Pecan Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:23 a.m. Monday on a charge of monetary instrument abuse. Officers were called to a local business on La. 182 about a customer who attempted to pay for merchandise with a counterfeit $10 bill. When the employee questioned the customer about the counterfeit $10 bill, he ran out of the store. The merchant identified the customer as Vinning Jr. Officers were able to locate Vinning at his residence on Duke Street. He was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief David Leonard Sr. reported the following arrests:
—Ethan Scioneaux, 21, of Riverside Drive in Berwick, was arrested at 1:51 a.m. Saturday on a charge of first offense possession of marijuana. Officers were patrolling the area of Renwick Subdivision when they observed a vehicle acting in a suspicious nature. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Scioneaux. Officers stated that Scioneaux became extremely nervous which lead officers to ask for consent to search the vehicle which he refused. A K-9 unit from the Morgan City Police Department was called in to assist and the K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located a small amount of marijuana. He was jailed and later released on a $2,000 bond.
—Jarred Gros, 31, of Two Brothers Street in Amelia, was arrested at 2:25 a.m. Sunday on charges of careless operation of a motor vehicle, two tail lights required, vehicle license required and no insurance. Officers were patrolling the area of La. 182 when they observed a vehicle with one working tail light. Officers turned around to conduct a traffic stop and the vehicle turned off of La. 182 onto Thorguson Drive and last control running off the roadway into a ditch. Officers made contact with the driver who was identified as Gros.
It was determined that there was no license plate on the vehicle and also no insurance. He was jailed and later released on a $504 bond.
—Leroy Dolphin, 65, of Jefferson Street in Lafayette, was arrested at 12:27 p.m. Sunday on Berwick warrants for the charges of violation of protective orders and telephone communications harassment. Officers traveled to Lafayette Parish Correctional Center and took custody of Dolphin for active warrants that Berwick Police Department held for his arrest. The warrants stem from an incident that occurred on Jan. 25 in Berwick in which a complaint was received about threats being made over the phone. During this investigation it was learned that a protective order had been in place which prohibited Dolphin from having any contact with the victim. Dolphin was developed as a suspect and warrants were prepared for his arrest. Lafayette Police Department was contacted and assistance was requested for locating Dolphin. On Saturday night, Lafayette Police Department located Dolphin at his residence and placed him under arrest. He was jailed with no bond set.
Patterson Police Chief Garrett Grogan reported the following arrests:
—Stephanie Marie Francis, 52, of Live Oak Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:09 p.m. Friday on the charge of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. She was jailed and released on a $1,000 bond.
—Lisa Marie Darnell, 59, of Cherry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:24 p.m. Friday on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. She was jailed and released on a $1,000 bond.
—Darius Preston, 21, of Richard Street in Baldwin, was arrested at 11:53 a.m. Friday on charges of suspended driver’s license, no cycle endorsement, stop sign violation, general speed, headlights required, tail lights required, safety helmet required, no eye protection, careless operation, resisting an officer by failure to comply and illegal carrying of a weapon. He was jailed with no bond set.
Franklin Police Chief Morris Beverly reported the following arrests:
—Damon Guy, 27, of Martin Luther King Boulevard in Patterson, was arrested at 7:05 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office on the charge of battery of a dating partner. He was jailed with no bond set.
—Joseph Thibodeaux, 21, of West Ibert Street in Franklin, was arrested at 9:34 p.m. Sunday on warrants for the Morgan City Police Department for the charges of illegal possession of stolen things, criminal trespassing and possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance. He was jailed and transported to the Morgan City Police Department.
