Seven arrests include man accused of fleeing from officer

Morgan City and St. Mary Parish authorities arrested seven people Thursday and early Friday, including a man accused of flight from an officer and child desertion.

Morgan City

Police Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 46 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--John Mercier, 36, Louisiana Avenue, Lafayette, was arrested at 9:23 a.m. Thursday on charges of aggravated flight from an officer and three counts of child desertion, and on a warrant alleging a tail lamp violation.

--Randy Lee Hatcher, 43, Aucoin Street, was arrested Thursday on a warrant alleging probation violation (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Jeffery Scott Lambert Jr., 25, River Road, Berwick, was arrested at 3:15 p.m. Thursday on four warrants alleging failure to appear for review (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Jerry Richard Forbes, 22, Aucoin Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:21 p.m. Thursday on two warrants alleging failure to appear for trial (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Donald R. Brown, 39, Louisa Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:56 p.m. Thursday on charges of disturbing the peace (violent or tumultuous manner) and littering public places.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 30 complaints and made these arrests

--Eddie Lee Brown IV, 49, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:29 p.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging failure to appear the charge of failing to register as a sex offender or child predator. Brown was also held an MCPD warrant for failure alleging appear on the charges of driving under suspension (two counts), speeding, switched plates and no insurance. Bail has been set at $33,687.50.

--Andy Joseph Maise, 45, Bridge City, was arrested at 4:47 a.m. Friday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and improper turn or failure to give a proper signal. Bail has been set at $65,00.
