School Board will attend leadership workshop Thursday

St. Mary Parish School Board members will spend Thursday at a School Board Member Leadership Institute Workshop.
The event will be 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday at the Central Office Complex in Centerville. The workshop is not an official board meeting, and no votes will be taken, Superintendent Teresa Bagwell said.
Bagwell will give introductory remarks. The presentations on the agenda are:
—“The Changing Landscape of Public Education and the Role of School Board Members in Meeting the Challenge,” Bob Hammonds of Hammonds, Sills, Guice, Noah & Perkins LLP.
—“Making Sense of Proposed Accountability Changes and its Impact on St. Mary Parish School Performance Scores, Robbi Gouaux, accountability manager.
—“Mastering On-Grade Level Performance as Louisiana and St. Mary Focuses on Early Childhood Literacy,” Crystal Daigle, instructional specialist; Sarah Broussard, English Language Arts Program manager; and Shannon Hoffpauir, elementary and middle school instructional supervisor.
—“Capitalizing on Alternative Forms of Communication in an Era of Instantaneous Newsfeeds,” Dr. Susan Dupre and Lee Ann Hepler, facilitator of technology.
—“Realizations of School Closures and the Need for Schools to Embrace Social-Emotional Learning,” Gidget Everitt, at-risk interventionist, Sherry Mathews Alexander, social worker, and Sarah Theriot, compliance officer.
—“Making Sense of the Minimum Foundation Program in Accordance with School System Budgeting Considerations,” Alton Perry, chief financial officer.
