Rhythms on the River starts Friday

April showers bring May flowers. Here in Morgan City, April brings Rhythms on the River.

Rhythms on the River is a concert series hosted by Café Jo Jo’s that is free to the public. The festivities occur 6-9:30 p.m. Fridays from April 21 to June 9.
“A fais do-do. Dancing in the street,” Joann Blanchard of Café Jo Jo’s called it.

Rhythms on the River started eight years ago, when the owner of Café Jo Jo’s, Brian Blanchard, saw a need to fix the disconnect in the community.
“Brian wants the peo-ple of Morgan City to come together and visit and enjoy family”, said Joann, who is also Brian’s mother.

“Brian wants to bring community and family together for a free event,” said Bonnie Knobloch, manager of Café Jo Jo’s.

Besides the community fellowship, the other importance for Rhythms on the River is exposure.

“Enjoy Front Street like your parents and grandparents did a long time ago,” said Blanchard.

“It’s about getting people aware of what we have and what we have to offer,” said Knobloch.

Rhythms on the River is fully supported by the City of Morgan City, Morgan City’s Main Street Committee, and St. Mary Chamber of Commerce.

Refreshments provided for purchase will be catered by Café Jo Jo’s. The bands selected were chosen to provide a variety of good southern Louisiana music.
In bad weather, con-certs will be rescheduled, if possible.

Sponsorship passes are still available to purchase. Concert goers with sponsorship passes will be able to view the festivities from the River Room of Café Jo Jo’s. For more information, contact Joann Blanchard at 985-384-9291,
