Police make arrest in Berwick burglary

Berwick and Morgan City police made an arrest Wednesday in a Berwick burglary that netted $1,500 in stolen goods.

--Kristyn Parker, 29, Susan Court, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:38 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of possession of heroin and on Thursday on a Berwick warrant alleging burglary of an inhabited dwelling, Berwick Police Chief David Leonard said.

On Sunday, the Berwick Police Department began an investigation into to a residential burglary on Mount Street, in which $1,500.00 worth of items had been taken.

Through investigative means and evidence recovered, detectives developed Parker as a suspect, Leonard said. On Wednesday, during the course of the investigation, Parker was located and questioned about the burglary. It was determined that the items that were stolen during the burglary had been taken to a residence in the Morgan City area.

Berwick detectives, with the assistance of Morgan City Police, went to the residence and were able to recover most of the stolen items. A warrant was issued for Parker, and she was later placed under arrest.

Parker was additionally charged with possession of heroin. She is currently being housed at the Morgan City Jail awaiting bond to be set.
