Patterson City Council will consider dog park

The Patterson City Council will consider creating a dog park when members hold the regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 1314 Main St.
The agenda includes discussion about a dog park at Church and Twin streets.
Dog parks have become a popular amenity for pet owners in recent years. A Morgan City dog park was proposed by high school students in 2015 at the Rotary Club’s New Generation event.
Local governments are increasingly turning to quality-of-life improvements, including walking trails in Berwick, Morgan City and Bayou Vista.
Also on Tuesday’s agenda, the City Council will consider changing the link between water bills and the Consumer Price Index.
Water bills are adjusted upward by 2% each year to account for inflation, which has remained at roughly that level for decades.
But this year, the CPI is up about 6% from last year, whether because of COVID-related supply problems or sharply increased federal spending. The council will talk about linking the water bills directly to the CPI instead of automatically adjusting them upward by 2%.
The council will also look at the rezoning two pieces of property on Red Cypress Road and hear from Gina Marshall of the Girl Scouts.
