Multiple arrests with multiple charges by St. Mary deputies

(Editor’s note: The charges listed here and the narratives that go with them are provided by the police agencies that made the arrests. Guilt or innocence has not been determined in court.)

St. Mary Parish deputies made four arrests Monday and Tuesday involving at least four charges each, including two on warrants for failure to a appear and another on a count of domestic aggravated assault, arrest reports say.

St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 47 complaints and made these arrests:
—Joshua M. Aucoin Sr., 34, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:15 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on charges of aggravated assault, improper lane usage, resisting an officer, failure to stop or yield at a stop sign, and no driver’s license on person.
Bail has not been set.
—Corey Logan Chavis, 31, Freeport, Florida, was arrested at 10:58 p.m. Monday on two warrants for failure to appear on charges of improper lane usage; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession, distribution or sale of a legend drug without a prescription; possession of a Schedule V drug; possession of a Schedule II drug; and possession of a Schedule I drug. Bail has not been set.
—Dale Mark Simoneaux Jr., 30, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Monday on charges of domestic abuse battery by strangulation, domestic abuse battery aggravated assault, domestic abuse child endangerment (aggravated) and resisting an officer by force.
—Amaya Barbay, 18, Franklin, was arrested at 1:29 a.m. Monday on charges of possession of marijuana; driving on roadway laned for traffic; turning movements and signals required; possession of drug paraphernalia; open container; and unlawful sale, purchase or possession of tobacco by an underage person.
Barbay was released on a summons to appear Aug. 25.
—Ezola Washington, 57, Jeanerette, was arrested at 4:18 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of marijuana and improper lane usage. Washington was released on a summons to appear Aug. 25.
—Lawrence Bernard Payne Jr., 58, Gibson, was arrested at 9:17 p.m. Monday on charges of obstruction pf public passage, open container and driving while intoxicated. Bail was set at $3,250.
No bail has been set.
—Re’lavor Vilo, 25, Patterson, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. Monday on charges of no license plate light, possession of marijuana and driving under suspension. Vilo was released on a summons to appear Aug. 25.
—Luwanda Rudolph, 41, Franklin, was arrested at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday on charges of no license plate light and reckless operation (no accident). Rudolph was released on a summons to appear Aug. 25.
—Marcus Scott Hatch, 46, Berwick, was arrested at 4:43 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana. No bail has been set.

Morgan City
Police Chief James F. Blair reported that over the last 24-hour period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 27 calls for service and made these arrests:
—David Tyronne Francois, 49, Willard Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:17 p.m. Monday on charges of operating a vehicle with a suspended license and no motorcycle endorsement. He was also booked on a warrant alleging battery of a dating partner by strangulation and theft under $1,000.
—Desmond Young, 21, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:26 p.m. Monday on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile and on a 6th Ward Court warrant alleging failure to appear to pay fine.

Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon reported these arrests:
—Andre Joseph Patterson, 41, Bertrand Street, Napoleonville, was arrested Tuesday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, speeding, flight from an officer, improper passing and driving under suspension.
The arrest followed a traffic stop near Labadieville on Tuesday.
A uniformed patrol officer observed a southbound vehicle on La. 308 and attempted a stop of the vehicle for multiple violations. The suspect vehicle continued on in an attempt to evade the deputy and then stopped at a residence off La. 1014 north of Labadieville.
The responding deputies immediately detained the suspect, now identified as Patterson. Deputies determined that Patterson was driving on a suspended driver’s license.
Deputies conducted an inventory search prior to towing and seized a quantity of methamphetamine.
Patterson was arrested and booked into the parish detention center with a bond set at $30,000.
—Trevon J. Lawrence, 24, Pierre Street, Plattenville, was arrested Monday on charges of possession of marijuana (fourth offense, felony), possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to distribute alprazolam (Xanax), prohibition on the possession of firearms by a person against whom a protective order is issued, switched license plate, driving under suspension and no proof of liability insurance.
The arrest followed a traffic stop Monday.
A uniformed patrol officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation near La. 402. The deputy conducted a stop of that vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Lawrence.
The deputy, at the time of the stop, noted the vehicle to be displaying a switched plate. The deputy also noted the driver to have a suspended driver’s license and no liability insurance. The deputy observed actions by the driver consistent with illegal drug activity.
The deputy conducted a K-9 open-air sniff of the vehicle and the K-9 alerted positive to the presence of illegal narcotics.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies located suspected marijuana and suspected Xanax. Deputies also seized a large caliber handgun that had been reported stolen in Baton Rouge.
It was further determined that Lawrence is a convicted felon.
Lawrence was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center in lieu of a bond set at $110,000.

St. Martin
Sheriff Becket Breaux reported these arrests:
—Ted Schexnayder, 55, Banker Road, St. Martinville, was arrested Monday on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.
—Jacob Zirlott, 37, Oxford Loop, Franklin, was arrested Monday on a hold for the U.S. Marshals Service.
