Morgan City woman accused of using deceased person's bank card

A Morgan City woman has been arrested in Assumption Parish and accused of using a deceased person's bank card to defraud area businesses.

Shanon Marie Scribner, La. 70 North, Morgan City, was arrested Wednesday with the help of the Morgan City Police Department on charges of bank fraud, exploitation of the infirm and identify theft, and on an Assumption warrant alleging failure to appear, Assumption Sheriff Leland Falcon said.

On or about June 14, deputies responded to a complaint in which it was alleged that an individual had committed crimes using a deceased persons banking information.

An investigation by detectives concluded that an individual had used an access card belonging to the de-ceased person at various locations in Assumption Parish.

Detectives located video surveillance footage of the individual using the card and were able to identify a Scribner as a suspect.

At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives issued warrants for Scribner.

On Wednesday evening, Assumption Parish deputies, with the assistance of the Morgan City Police Department, arrested Scribner at Lake End Park. On Thursday, Scribner was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
