Morgan City police report marijuana, hydrodone arrest; Berwick police accuse man of stealing donation jar

A Morgan City man faces possession with intent charges involving marijuana and hydrocodone after an arrest Friday by city police.
In Berwick, a man was arrested after surveillance video caught him stealing a charity donation jar from a local business, police said.
Morgan City
Police Chief James F. Blair reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 80 calls for service over the last 72-hour reporting period and made these arrests beginning Friday:
—Tyrin Terel Watts, 28, Apple Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:36 a.m. Friday on charges of posses-sion with intent distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute hydroco-done, transactions involving proceeds from controlled dangerous substance activity, possession of a firearm in the presence of
a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of juveniles and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws (drug-free zone).
—Jose Javier Rodriguez-Ortiz, 38, Grizzaffi Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:52 p.m. Friday on a charge of driving while intoxicated (first offense) and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
—Rebecca F. Brown, 73, Chennault Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:34 a.m. Saturday on a charge of hit and run driving.
—Nicole P. Rogers, 52, Patton Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:57 p.m. Saturday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
—Kahlil Raiseem Smith, 18, La. 1003, Belle Rose, was arrested at 7:11 p.m. Saturday on a charge of criminal damage to property.
—Nicholas Anthony Gam-ble, 42, Jupiter Street, Mor-gan City, was arrested at 7:13 p.m. Saturday on a charge of violation of a pro-tective order and two counts of failure to appear to pay fine and one count of failure to appear for trial (6th Ward Morgan City Court).
—Jeremy Paul Myers, 49, Front Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:56 p.m. Saturday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), reckless operation of a motor vehicle, hit-and-run driving and possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.
—Jacob Nathaniel Klenert, 28, Front Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. Saturday on a charge of domestic abuse battery (strangulation).
—Kelly Boggs, 19, Robicheaux Alley, Berwick, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. Saturday on charges of domestic abuse battery and criminal damage to property.
—Dylan Deloen, 20, Anita Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas, was arrested at 12:48 a.m. Monday on a charge of disturbing the peace (fighting).
Berwick
Police Chief David S. Leonard reported these arrests:
—Lennis Paray Jr., 37, Fourth Street, Berwick, was arrested at 9:11 a.m. Friday on a charge of violations of a protective order.
About 9 a.m. Friday, officers were notified that Paray was observed at a residence in which he was not supposed to be at due to an active protective order against him. Officers arrived on scene minutes later and observed Paray to be sleeping on the back patio of the residence.
Officers immediately took Paray into custody without incident. Paray was placed under arrest and transported to Berwick Jail, where he was booked. He was later transferred to St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center to be housed.
—Theodore Harris, 35, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:54 p.m. Sunday on a Berwick Police Department warrant alleging theft (under $1,000).
About 6:49 p.m. Sunday, Berwick police received a call from an off-duty employee of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, who stated that he observed Harris walking east on U.S. 90. Harris had an outstanding warrant for his arrest through the Berwick Police Department.
Officers arrived in the area, located Harris and placed him under arrest without incident. Harris was then transported to Berwick Jail where he was booked on the charges and remains incarcerated.
The warrant stems from an investigation that began April 18 in which a charity donation jar was stolen from the counter at a local busi-ness. Harris was developed as a suspect after police viewed surveillance cameras at the location. A warrant was later prepared for his arrest.
Franklin
Police Chief Morris Beverly reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 23 complaints over the past weekend and made the following arrests:
—Jaquan Verrett, 23, 10th Street, Franklin, was arrested at 11:57 a.m. Friday on a charge of domestic abuse battery (strangulation). Verrett was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
—Breana Smith, 19, South Penn Road, Franklin, was arrested at 11:59 a.m. Friday on a charge of disturbing the peace (fighting). Smith was booked, processed and re-leased on a $1,000 bond.
—Gary Jones, 54, of Ibert Street, Franklin, LA, was arrested at 6:34 p.m. Friday on charges of resisting an officer by flight, criminal trespassing, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Jones was additionally charged with a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court for failure to appear for the charge of theft.
Jones was booked, processed and held with no bond set at time of press release.
--Sylvester Coleman, 20, Main Street, Franklin, was arrested at 12:59 a.m. Sun-day on charges of resisting an officer (two counts), remaining where forbidden and disturbing the peace (intoxication). Coleman was booked, processed and held on a $6,500 bond.
