Morgan City police make arrest in attempted armed robbery

Morgan City police arrested a suspect in an attempted armed robbery Saturday, and made four more arrests over the weekend on assault or battery charges.

St. Mary sheriff’s deputies made a burglary arrest and six arrests on drug charges.

Morgan City

Interim Police Chief Mark E. Griffin Jr. reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 98 calls for service over the last 72-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

—Raul Miguel Navarez, 59, Fifth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:29 p.m. Saturday on charges of attempted armed robbery and entry or remaining where forbidden.

—Sarah Pearce, 22, Joey Street, Patterson, was arrested at 11:51 p.m. Friday on a warrant alleging simple battery.

—-Demetrius Owens, 29, Orange Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:09 a.m. Sunday on charges of aggravated assault and disturbing the peace.

—-Denisica A. Startling, 41, Barrow Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:18 p.m. Sunday on charges of domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace.

—Barbara Murray Hanks, 46, Brownell Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:42 p.m. Sunday on two counts of domestic abuse battery (child endangerment law).

—Darren Ann Boggan, 45, La. 317, Centerville, was arrested at 3:16 p.m. Friday on a charge of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

—Tre James Landry, 26, Coleen Street, New Iberia, as arrested at 3:06 a.m. Friday on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, no insurance and vehicle license required and as a fugitive from the New Iberia Police Department.

—Joshua James Robert Jones, 34, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:34 a.m. Sunday as a fugitive from the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

—Reinerio Guillen-Gavarete, 34, Keith Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:27 a.m. Sunday on a charge of child desertion.

—Neysa Marie Sauce, 54, Helen Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:09 p.m. Sunday on a charge of theft under $1,000.

—Terri I. Helman, 40, Everett Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:34 p.m. Sunday on a charge of disturbing the peace.

—Ky’lon Malik Garrison, 18, Fortins Street, Berwick, was arrested at 12:09 a.m. Monday on a charge of marijuana possession.

—Ingrid Torres, 21, Veterans Boulevard, Gonzales, was arrested at 12:18 a.m. Monday on a charge of possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 113 com-plaints and made these arrests:

—Keith Paul Brown, 55, Jeanerette, was arrested at 11:32 a.m. Friday on charges of burglary of an inhabited dwelling and resisting arrest or officer. Bail has not been set.

—Darius Kentrel Davis, 31, Morgan City, was arrested at 11 p.m. Friday on charges for maximum speed limit, possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Davis was released on a $7,500 bond.

—Zadre Devon Johnson, 29, Patterson, was arrested at 11:56 p.m. Friday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of possession of MDMA. Bail has not been set

--Lester Jonte Angus, 24, Lafayette, was arrested at 1:11 a.m. Sunday on charges of speeding, possession of firearm by a convicted felon and possession of marijuana. Bail was set at $15,000.

—John Anthony Henry, 43, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:25 p.m. Sunday by the Narcotics Section on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, and on a warrant alleging resisting an officer. Bail was set at $6,000.

—Shan Perara, 48, Napoleonville, was arrested at 11:47 a.m. Sunday by the Narcotics Section on a warrant alleging possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has not been set.

—Jonathon Perou, 19, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:37 p.m. Friday by the Narcotics Section on charges of failure to yield to emergency vehicles, possession of marijuana, obstruction of justice and no driver’s license.

Bail has not been set.

—Earl Lynn Perro, 41, Patterson, was arrested at 11:33 p.m. Saturday on three warrants alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, criminal neglect of family and domestic abuse battery. Bail has not been set at this time.

—Leon Damon Clark, 46, Baton Rouge, was arrested at 8:48 a.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charge of aggravated flight from an officer. Bail has not been set.

—Brian Antonio Pineda, 22, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:50 p.m. Saturday on charges of reckless operation (no accident), driver must be licensed, open container and driving while intoxicated.

Bail was set at $3,500.

—David Wade Woods Jr., 37, Patterson, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Sunday on an Assumption Parish warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of simple criminal damage to property and violation of protective orders. Woods was transferred to another agency.

Franklin

Police Chief Morris Beverly reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 20 complaints over the past weekend and made these arrests:

—Deondric Butler, 27, Ninth Street, Franklin, was arrested at 9:19 a.m. Friday on a warrant dated alleging domestic abuse battery. Butler was booked, processed and released on a $2,500 bond.

—Gerald Dupas, 36, Iberia Street, Franklin, was arrested at 4:20 p.m. Friday on a charge of battery of a dating partner. Dupas was additionally arrested on a warrant dated July 1 alleging domestic abuse battery. Dupas was booked, processed and held with no bond set at time of press release.
