Morgan City police arrest two in recent burglaries

Morgan City police on Thursday arrested two men suspected of burglarizing several homes, according to arrest reports:
Morgan City
Police Chief James F. Blair reported that over the last 24-hour period the Morgan City Police Department responded to 28 calls for service and made these arrests:
—Johnathan Paul Myers, 27, Brashear Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:52 p.m. Thursday on charges of resisting an officer, possession of methamphetamine, possession of synthetic marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of stolen property under $1,000. Myers was also arrested on a warrant for five counts of simple burglary and theft under $1,000.
—Bricelon Lamon Martin, 24, Second Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:31 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for four counts of simple burglary.
The Morgan City Police Department has responded to several reports of burglaries on the north side of Morgan City beginning April 15.
Detectives with the Morgan City Police Department were able to identify two of the individuals involved and obtained an arrest warrant for their arrest. Detectives also served several search warrants to recover stolen property.
On Thursday, detectives located Myers at an address on Brashear Avenue. During the arrest, he pulled away from officers.
Officers were able to secure Myers and place him under arrest. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the address and discovered suspected synthetic marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and stolen property. He was additionally charged, and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for incarceration.
Later in the evening, detectives located Martin at his residence on Second Street and placed him under arrest on active warrants held by the Morgan City Police Department.
—Daniel Michael Elliot, 21, U.S. 90, Gibson, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Thursday on charges of criminal trespass and criminal damage to property, and on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant for failure to appear for trial.
—Frank James Rock Jr., 33, Andrew Street, Patterson, was arrested at 8:58 p.m. Thursday on charges of disturbing the peace (intoxication) and a warrant for contempt of court and failure to pay fine in 6th Ward Court.

St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 35 complaints and made these arrests:
—Juvenile female, 16, Patterson, was arrested at 10:53 a.m. Thursday on a charge of disturbing the peace by fighting. The girl was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Raymond Vincent Owens III, 21, Patterson, was arrested at 10:53 a.m. Thursday on a charge of disturbing the peace by fighting. Owens was released on a 1,000 bond.
—James Salone Austin Sr., 39, Centerville, was arrested at 10:55 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of criminal neglect of family. No bail has been set.
—Christopher J. Mayon, 45, Gibson, was arrested at 3:39 p.m. Thursday on charges of reckless operation (no accident) and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle while license is suspended, revoked or canceled and speeding. Mayon was released on a $5,500 bond.
—Cedric Benjamin Gant, 23, Amelia, was arrested at 1:52 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for violation of protective orders.  Gant was released on a $5,000 bond.
—Juvenile male, 16, Centerville, was arrested at 10:33 a.m. Thursday on a charge of disturbing the peace (fighting). The boy was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Juvenile male, 15, Centerville, was arrested at 10:33 a.m. Thurs))day on a charge of disturbing the peace (fighting).
The boy was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Billy Gregory Johnson, 60, Houma, was arrested at 8:59 p.m. Thursday on a charge of disturbing the peace (violent and tumultuous manner) and driving while intoxicated.  He was released on a $5,000 bond.
—Lamarcus Jermaine Francois, 26, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:47 p.m. Thursday on a charge of general speed law, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Francois also held an Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear on the charge of maximum speed limit.  Bail was set at $3,750 and a hold was placed on Francois for another agency.

Berwick
Police Chief David Leonard reported this arrest:
—Craig Nini, 39, Toups Street, Berwick, was arrested at 11:21 a.m. Thursday on charges of threatening a public official and disturbing the peace (language) and on a St. Mary Parish warrant for failure to appear.
About 10:57 a.m. Thursday, the Berwick Police Department received a call about Nini being at a residence where he was previously warned not to return. Officers made contact with Nini, and during this time, he began cursing and hollering profanities while several residents were outside.
Nini also had an active warrant through the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. Nini was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department. There, Nini made threats to commit a battery on officers. Nini was booked.

Franklin
Police Chief Morris Beverly said his department responded to nine complaints over a 24-hour period and made this arrest:
—Jerry Uze, 69, Iberia Street, Franklin, was arrested at 1:31 p.m. Thursday on the charges of criminal trespassing and disturbing the peace (language). Uze was booked, processed and released on a $1,500 bond.

Chitimacha
Police Chief Hal Hutchinson reported this arrest:
—Ezekial Anderson IV, Irish Bend Road, Franklin, was arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute alprazolam (Xanax), possession of MDMA (ecstasy), 16 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, illegal possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, and introduction of contraband into a penal institution.
Officers responded to a tribal business in reference to a welfare concern. During the investigation, a search warrant was obtained and the following items were located: 108 grams of marijuana, 14.2 grams of alprazolam (generic for Xanax), 8.0 grams of methamphetamine and 0.7 grams of MDMA.
Other items were also located consistent with the sale of illegal narcotics as well as one loaded 9mm handgun. 
Anderson was released almost immediately on a $30,000 bond, but the investigation continues and more charges are possible, Hutchinson said.

St. Martin
Sheriff Becket Breaux reported these arrests:
—Joshua Arceneaux, 36, Olanda Drive, Arnaudville, was arrested Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on charges of theft of a motor vehicle, transfer and possession of stolen vehicles, simple possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule II drugs, violation of controlled dangerous substance laws, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm while committing or attempting a crime, illegal possession of stolen things, and manufacture or distribution of a Schedule IV drug.
—Dennis Benoit, 41, Catahoula Highway, St. Martinville, was arrested Thursday on charges of manufacture, distribution and possession with intent to distribute Schedule II drugs and criminal conspiracy.
—Roger Broussard, 36, Nursery Highway, Breaux Bridge, was arrested Thursday on a warrant for aggravated domestic abuse with child endangerment.

Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon reported these arrests:
—Reva D. Deville, 52, La. 1, Belle Rose, was arrested Thursday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless operation of a motor vehicle.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation near the La. 1247 bridge in Labadieville.
The deputy initiated a stop of the vehicle and made contact with the driver, now identified as Deville. The deputy conducted an interview and at some point, a search of the vehicle was conducted.
During that search, a quantity of drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine and a firearm were recovered.
Deville was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Facility pending a bond hearing.
—Ramone Richard Rondeno, 30, La. 1 South, Donaldsonville, was arrested Thursday on a charge of speeding more than 100 mph in a 55 mph zone, tail lights required, obstruction of justice and probation violation (armed robbery).
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle near La. 1 and La. 70 with an equipment violation and attempted to stop the vehicle.
The suspect fled on La. 308 toward Donaldsonville at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The deputy gave chase and at some point, the suspect vehicle hit a spike strip deflating the tires. A passenger with a gun fled on foot and remains at large.
The driver was taken into custody. He was identified as Rondeno. He was booked and remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Deputies are investigating the identity of the passenger.
—Luis Eduardo Zelaya, 21, Houma Highland Court, Houma, was arrested Thursday on a charge of injuring public records.
Deputies were dispatched to a local Office of Motor Vehicles location and made contact with the office manager. The deputy was presented the documents and identified them as fraudulent.
Zelaya was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
