Morgan City police arrest two on meth charges

Methamphetamine charges showed up in two more local arrests Wednesday, this time in cases investigated by Morgan City police.

Morgan City

Interim Police Chief Mark Griffin Jr. reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Morgan City Police Department responded to 41 calls for service and made these arrests:

—Kelly W. Landry, 40, Patton Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law (drug-free zone).

—Tanner J. Scarbrough, 22, Patton Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law (drug-free zone).

—Aketa R. Francis, 29, Egle Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant alleging two counts of contempt of court (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

—Darla R. Percle, 34, Carmen Street, Patterson, was arrested at 7:06 p.m. Wednesday on warrants alleging failure to appear and probation violation (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 29 complaints and made these arrests:

—Blake Joseph Billiot, 37, Franklin, was arrested at 6:33 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of failure to appear for the original charge of domestic abuse battery. Bail has not been set.

—Kendall Johnson, 37, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:56 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of failure to appear on the original charge of possession of methamphetamine and operating a vehicle while license is suspended, revoked or canceled.

—Kyle Sherman 19, Franklin, was arrested at 3:50 p.m. by the Narcotics Section on charges of improper lane used, aggravated flight from an officer, no driver’s license, stop sign violations, aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce and resisting an officer.

Bail has not been set at this time.

Franklin

Police Chief Morris Beverly said the Franklin Police Department responded to 11 complaints over the past 24 hours and made these arrests:

—Mary Porras, 51, Bayouview Drive, Franklin, was arrested at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of attempted theft. Porras was booked, processed and released to appear in 3rd Ward City Court.
