Morgan City police arrest three on DWI charges

Morgan City police made three drunk-driving arrests over the weekend and arrested three more people on marijuana possession charges, arrest reports say.

Morgan City
Police Chief James F. Blair reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 192 calls for service within the last 72-hour reporting period and made these arrests beginning Friday:
—Marcus Kent Bascle, 26, Cavaness Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:24 a.m. Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated (second offense), reckless operation of a motor vehicle and possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.
—Richard Troy Boone Sr., 56, Fourth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:49 p.m. Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated (first offense) and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
—Alan Francis Goodson III, 34, Bellcrest Drive, McKinney, Texas, was arrested 11:36 p.m. Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), reckless operation of a motor vehicle, tail lights required and improper lane usage.
—Matoyia D. Jordan, 19, Alpha Omega Drive, Sterling, was arrested at 8:46 p.m. Saturday on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of juveniles, no insurance and failure to secure registration.
—Corina Glyn Rinehart, 24, Junior Drive, Plaquemine, was arrested at 9:27 p.m. Saturday on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, headlights required and driving under suspension
—Andrew Maurice Watson, 28, Lena Street, Lafayette, was arrested at 11:35 p.m. Saturday on charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of marijuana and possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.
—Denise C. Bourda, 54, East Long Street, Baldwin, was arrested at 3 p.m. Friday on a warrant alleging failure to return leased merchandise.
—Destiny Bennett, 34, Grandwood Drive, Patterson, was arrested at 11:24 p.m. Friday on charges of disturbing the peace and simple battery.
—Tessa E. Verret, 23, Belanger Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:57 p.m. Friday on charges of simple bat-tery and disturbing the peace.
—Hunter St. Germain, 21, Shady Grove Patterson, was arrested at 1:30 a.m. Saturday on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Hayes Michael Brown, 24, Douglas Drive, Houma, was arrested at 9:52 p.m. Saturday on a charge of disturbing the peace (intoxicated).
—Lionesha E. Rainey, 22, Barrow Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:57 p.m. Saturday on a charge of simple criminal damage to property.

Berwick
Police Chief David Leonard reported the following arrests:
—Lennis R. Paray, 37, Fourth Street, Berwick, was arrested at 6:18 p.m. Friday on a Berwick Police Department warrant alleging violation of protective orders.
At 6:18 p.m. Friday, Paray was located at a residence on Second Street. He was found to have an active warrant for his arrest.
The warrant stems from an investigation that took place Nov. 6, in which Paray was despite a protective order. Paray was gone prior to the officer’s arrival, so a warrant was prepared for his arrest. Paray was booked into the Berwick Jail, then later transferred to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, where he remains with no bond set.
—Quitin M. Nerve, 38, Cleveland Street, Patterson, was arrested at 10:42 a.m. Saturday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), possession of marijuana and careless operation with crash.
At 9:36 a.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to U.S. 90 East near Thorguson Drive in reference to a three-vehicle crash. During the crash investigation, Nerve was identified as one of the drivers involved.
Nerve exhibited signs of impairment on narcotics and he subsequently poorly on the standardized field sobriety tests. He was placed under arrest and he submitted a proper sample of .000g%BAC on the breath test. Blood and urine samples were collected at a local hospital, and the results are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Nerve was booked into the Berwick Jail where he remains with a $5,000 bond.
—Nicholas W. Grimmett, 40, South Verrett Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:13 .m. Sunday on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant alleging failure to appear for a sentencing hearing on a charge of expired license plate.
On Sunday, officers responded to a call about Grimmett causing a disturbance at a local lounge, and he was refusing to leave.
Grimmett was gone prior to the officer’s arrival. About two hours later, another call was received advising that he was back at the lounge and he was refusing to leave. Officers arrived on scene and located him outside. He was found to have an active warrant through the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Grimmett was placed under arrest and booked into the Berwick Jail, where he later posted a bond of $265.

Franklin
Police Chief Morris Beverly responded to 26 complaints over the past weekend and this arrest:
—Michael Jack, 50, La. 83, Ashton, was arrested at 8:40 p.m. Sunday on a warrant dated Nov. 1 on a charge of theft. Jack was booked, processed and held on a $1,500 bond.
