Morgan City man arrested in $100K theft

A Morgan City man has been arrested in the theft of construction equipment valued at more than $100,000, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Nolan J. Vedros Jr., 56, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of theft (over $25,000).

On Nov. 28, deputies were dispatched to a location near the 2600 block of La. 1 relative to the theft.

Detectives initiated an investigation and were able to identify Vedros as the suspect in the theft.

Detectives established probable cause sufficient to obtain warrants for the arrest Vedros.

The suspect was arrested on Wednesday with the assistance of the Morgan City Police Department.

Vedros was transported to Assumption Parish and booked into the detention center with bond set at $50,000.

Morgan City

Police Chief Chad M. Adams reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Morgan City Police Department responded to 38 calls for service and made these arrests:

--Skylar J. Williams, 41, Gray, was arrested at 9:39 a.m. Wednesday on charges of improper lane usage, possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

--Elaina N. Ashmore, 23, Mallard Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:41 p.m. Thursday on charges of battery on a police officer and resisting an officer and on a warrant alleging three counts of failure to appear (6th Ward Morgan City).

--Aubrey A. Corsaro, 34, Carol Road, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:46 p.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging two counts of violation of a protective order.

Patterson

Police Chief Garrett Grogan reported these arrests:

--Skyler J. Louis, 21, Leo Drive, Patterson, was arrested at 5:45 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of stolen things, resisting an officer (giving false information) and obstruction of justice (tampering with evidence). Louis is incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.

--Robert Ellison, 29, Tiffany Street, Patterson, was arrested at 6:26 p.m. Thursday on charges of simple battery and resisting an officer by force.
