Morgan City Council recognizes NBA player

The Morgan City mayor and council honored Philadelphia 76ers forward-center Shawn Long, a Morgan City native, during Tuesday’s council meeting. Accepting the city’s Positive Image award from Mayor Frank “Boo” Grizzaffi on behalf of Long is his brother, Courtney Long. Shawn Long made his NBA debut in 2017 playing in 18 games and averaging 8.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. He was in Morgan City Saturday to host his Feed the Beast Block Party for the community.
