Kiwanis hold Kid's Fishing Rodeo
The Kiwanis Club of East St. Mary held its 14th Kid's Fishing Rodeo Saturday at Lake End Park in Morgan City.
Despite heavy rain and lightning early in the morning, and a delayed start, families filled the park for the free event. Children ages 3-15 were invited to fish with a guardian for trophies and door prizes.
Families came from across the area to partake in the festivities. Justin Perryman Sr. of Mobile, Alabama, even attended the event with his 3-year-old son, Justin Jr. of Morgan City. They both had a fun time trying to get a worm on the hook.
Children successfully landing a catch brought the fish to the weigh station where it was weighed and categorized. Awards were given for those making the leader boards of each category.
Complimentary hot dogs and refreshments followed the morning’s fishing outing.
