Irish Italian Parade rolls (and strolls) through Morgan City

It was Italian. It was Irish. And it was just a touch crazy.

It was the annual Krewe of Dionysus Irish Italian Parade, which made its way Saturday down Second Street in Morgan City.

The annual walking and golf cart parade pays tribute to the area's Italian and Irish heritage about the time of St. Patrick's Day, which honors the patron saint of the Emerald Isle, and the Feast of St. Joseph, which has special meaning for people of Italian, especially Sicilian, ethnicity.

At least one miracle occurred Saturday: Kids along the route actually waved to receive raw carrots, which along with potatoes were passed out along the route. Gifts of garden produce are part of a traditional St. Patrick's Day parade.
