Ham radio operators compete for contacts
Members of the Bayouland Emergency Amateur Radio Service take part in Saturday's Field Day, a nationwide combination of contest and preparation for service in time of emergencies. Anyone who listens to AM radio knows that that there are good days for reception and bad days, and Saturday was a challenge for the local amateurs. But in a few minutes as these pictures were taken, the local ham radio operators made contacts with stations all along the East Coast. Top Photo: Zach LeBlanc, KI5ZMU, makes a "CQ" call for contact with any station, while Roger Dean Plessala, KC5RDP, works in the background. Bottom Photo: Tina Galler, KA5HSL, notes the call sign of another amateur radio station.
