Haik will be 16th JDC DA

Michael "Mike" Haik qualified without opposition to become the next district attorney for the 16th Judicial District. Haik, a Republican from New Iberia who has served as assistant DA, qualified during the July 9-11 qualifying period. Haik will succeed M. Bofill Duhè, who died March 15 after serving 10 years as DA for the district that includes St. Mary, Iberia and St. Martin parishes. Had Haik been opposed, the election would have been Oct. 11. No other St. Mary races appear on the ballot.
