Fight was captured on social media; Morgan City police make 6 arrests
After viewing social media video of a fight at a Brashear Avenue-area bar, Morgan City police moved in last week and made six arrests.
Arrested on disturbing the peace by fighting charges were, according to the Morgan City Police Department:
--Andrea Bellard, 32, Bowman Street, Morgan City, arrested at 12:02 p.m. Wednesday.
--Tristan Montet, 23, Tuscany Lane, Sorrento, arrested at 1:57 p.m. Wednesday.
--Derrick J. Gros, 29, Landry Lane, Morgan City, arrested at 1:57 p.m. Wednesday.
--Tyson Joubert, 39, Arbor Circle, Morgan City, arrested at 10:44 a.m. Thursday.
--Tyler M. Richard, 29, Belanger Street, Morgan City, arrested at 3:06 p.m. Thursday.
--Brennan Michael Acosta, 27, Willow Street, Morgan City, arrested at 8:15 a.m. Friday.
Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division initiated an investigation after seeing videos via social media of a large fight that had occurred at a local alcohol establishment in the area of Brashear Avenue on Sept. 11, the department said in a press release.
"During the investigation Andrea Bellard, Tristan Montet, Derrick J. Gros, Tyson Jobert, Tyler M. Richard, and Brennan Michael Acosta were identified as being involved in the fistic encounter," rhe department said.
Arrest warrants were obtained for the parties involved. Bellard, Montet, Gros, Joubert, Richard, and Acosta all presented theiselves to the Morgan City Police Department Warrants Division, where they were arrested and booked. The investigation is ongoing in an attempt to identify more patrons involved.
