Early voting begins Friday in U.S. senator primaries
Early voting in advance of the June 27 election begins Friday as voters begin to settle two party primary runoffs for U.S. senator.
Early voting will run 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. through June 20, excluding Sunday and Juneteenth. St. Mary early voters may cast ballots at the Registrar of Voters Office locations at the Parish Courthouse in Franklin or at 301 Third St., Morgan City. Bring a photo ID to the polls.
Both items on St. Mary ballots are part of the closed party primary process in place this year. Both are for candidates hoping to succeed incumbent Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy, who finished third in the May 16 GOP primary.
On the Republican side, U.S. Rep. Julia Letlow is running against state Treasurer John Fleming.
The Democratic runoff features two political newcomers: Gary Crocett of New Orleans and “Jamie” Davis of Ferriday.
