Drug, drunkenness charges among Morgan City weekend arrests

Morgan City police reported 14 arrests over the weekend, including charges of drug possession, drunken driving and disturbing the peace by intoxication.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that over the last 72-hour period, the Morgan City Police Department responded to 112 calls for service and made these arrests:

--Paul A. Paray, 54, Seventh Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:40 a.m. Sunday on charges of simple battery, disturbing the peace (drunkenness), possession of hydrocodone and two counts of possession of a legend drug without a prescription.

--Casey Gilley, 40, Levee Road, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:17 pm. Sunday on a charge of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper lane usage and possession of alcoholic beverages in a vehicle.

--Craig Johnson, 22, Champion Lane Gray, was arrested at 5:50 p.m. Friday on a charge of possession of marijuana.

--Celio Jesus Ortega, 23, Verret Street, Amelia, was arrested 3:51 p.m. Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), driver must be licensed, reckless operation of a vehicle, canceled license plate and no registration.

--Sanna A. Khan, 34, Poncio Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:58 p.m. Friday on a warrant alleging contempt of court (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Troyriana R. Johnson, 25, Marietta Place, Gray, was arrested at 5:50 pm. Friday on a warrant alleging failure to appear (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--William W. Butler, 35, Leo Drive, Patterson, was arrested at 7:42 p.m. Friday on warrant alleging probation violation (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Quintin D. Douglas, 31, Tiffany Street, Patterson, was arrested at 7:47 p.m. Friday on a warrant alleging failure to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Chelsey D. Celestine, 31, Emy Lane, Patterson, was arrested at 12:42 a.m. Saturday on a warrant alleging probation violation.

--Brock E. Williams, 43, Oak Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:49 pm. Saturday on a charge of resisting by giving false information and on a warrant alleging four counts of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Court of Morgan City).

--Scott J. Comeaux, 24, Roselawn Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:48 a.m. Sunday on a charge of disturbing the peace (drunkenness).

--Jessie L. Comeaux, 29, Clayborn Street, Pierre Part, was arrested at 12:48 am. Sunday on a charge of disturbing the peace (drunkenness).

--Clement J. Mire, 40, Vine Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:54 p.m. Sunday on a warrant alleging three counts of failure to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Charles M. Bonnette, 39, Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:40 a.m. Monday on warrants alleging probation violation and failure to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

Berwick

Chief David S. Leonard reported these arrests:

--Erik Balance, 22, Franklin Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:20 p.m. Saturday on a Berwick warrant alleging simple criminal damage to property.

At 5:20 p.m. Saturday, Balance turned himself into the Berwick Police Department for an active warrant alleging simple criminal damage to property.

The warrant stems from a complaint received March 16 of a vehicle that was damaged. Through the course of the investigation, evidence was collected developing Ballance as a suspect. Ballance was booked on the warrant and released on a summons to appear in court.

--Danayre Smith, 27, Jones Street, Berwick, was arrested at 6:50 p.m. Sunday on a Berwick warrant alleging simple criminal damage to property.

At 6:50 p.m. Sunday, Smith turned herself into the Berwick Police Department for an active warrant for simple criminal damage to property (felony).

The warrant stems from a complaint received March 13. Smith was alleged to have tampered with a vehicle’s fuel, causing over $1,000 worth of damages. Through the course of the investigation, officers uncovered evidence linking Smith to the crime. Smith was booked into the Berwick Police Department.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 90 complaints and made these arrests:

--Gene Barry Butts, 35, Jeanerette, was arrested at 4:52 p.m. Saturday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Zackery Dane Johnson, 37, Gibson, was arrested at 2:12 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession of Schedule I drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest or officer and two counts of possession of Schedule III drugs.

Johnson also held two warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of theft, possession of Schedule II drugs and possession of marijuana. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Ron Delone Leonard, 41, Jeanerette, was arrested at 6:14 p.m. Sunday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of criminal neglect of family. Bail has been set at $24,730.86.

Franklin

Interim Chief Tina Thibodeaux reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 33 complaints over the past weekend and made these arrests:

--Mar'Keisha Hamilton, 28, of Oneal Chube Street, Franklin, was arrested at 4:23 p.m. Friday on a 3rd Ward City Court warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of speeding, no driver's license and no insurance, and on warrants for the Fort Bend Sheriff's Office on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief. Hamilton was additionally charged with simple escape.

Hamilton was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

--Ivory Fine, 34, Ninth Street, Franklin, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Saturday on charges of possession of marijuana, tail lamps and driving under suspension, and on a warrant dated Jan. 6 alleging theft. Fine was additionally arrested on a 3rd Ward City Court warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of hit and run, careless operation, failure to report an accident, no insurance and driving under suspension.

Fine was booked, processed, and held with no bond set at time of press release.

--Sabrina Darby, 26, Iberia Street, Franklin, was arrested at 5:43 p.m. Friday on a warrant dated Jan. 7 alleging battery of a dating partner. Darby was booked, processed and held with no bond set at time of press release.

--Donald Dupree, 24, Sere Street, New Iberia, was arrested at 1:52 p.m. Sunday on charges of cyberstalking and two counts of violation of a protective order. Dupree was booked, processed and held with no bond set at time of press release.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported these arrests:

--Kevin Michael Anderson, 35, La. 1011, Labadieville, was arrested Thursday on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, possession of methamphetamine, illegal use of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of persons under 17 (infant), possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal window tint, child passenger restraint systems violated and color of clearance lamps, identification lamps or side marker.

The charges arose from a traffic stop on La. 662 near Bayou L’Ourse.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of the vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Anderson and conducted an interview. The deputy also interacted with a passenger and concluded that additional investigation was warranted.

The deputy summoned a K-9 unit to the location. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of illegal controlled dangerous substances. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine as well as a large-caliber handgun.

Anderson was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and remains incarcerated with bond set at $70,000.

--Mikie Lynn Landry, 24, Mike Street, Pierre Part, was arrested Sunday on charges of possession of oxycodone, possession of Xanax (alprazolam) and illegal window tint, and on a St. Mary Parish fugitive warrant alleging flight from an officer and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

The charges arose from a Sunday afternoon traffic stop near Pierre Part.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle on La. 70 with an equipment violation and conducted an investigative stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver now identified as Landry, and conducted an interview of Landry.

At the conclusion of that interview, the deputy believed that additional investigation was warranted.

The deputy requested consent to search the vehicle which was granted. During the search process, doses of Xanax and oxycodone were seized.

Landry was arrested and remains incarcerated with bond set at $40,000.

--Dalton Gage Andras, 25, Bayou Boeuf Road, Amelia, was arrested March 29 on a charge of second-degree battery.

The charges result from an incident March 29 in Amelia.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence on Bayou Boeuf Road in connection with a disturbance.

Deputies made contact with the complainant, who advised that earlier in the evening, Andras allegedly threw a cup in his yard. The complainant went to the home of Andras to speak to him. The complainant then returned to his home and a short time later, Andras drove up on a four-wheeler and confronted him.

An altercation occurred between Andras and the complainant. Andras allegedly struck the complainant in the face resulting in injury and momentary lapse of consciousness by the complainant. Andras then left the area.

Investigating deputies noted obvious signs of injury to the complainant. At the conclusion, deputies established probable cause to arrest ge Andras. Deputies located the suspect and arrested him.

Andras was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and has posted a $100,000 commercial bond.
