Drug arrests in St. Mary; drive-by shooting in Assumption

St. Mary deputies made five drug-related arrests early this week, including four on simple marijuana possession charges. Assumption authorities arrested four people, including two juveniles, in a drive-by shooting case.
St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 37 complaints and made these arrests:
—Scott Christopher Dehart, 40, Berwick, was arrested at 10:04 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of possession intent to distribute methamphetamine. Dehart was released on a $5,000 bond.
—Matthew Allen, 28, Leesville, was arrested at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday by the Narcotics Section on charges of improper lane usage and possession of marijuana. Allen was released on a summons to appear Oct. 7.
—Sarich Hernandez, 19, Houma, was arrested at 6:09 a.m. Tuesday by the Narcotics Section on charges of following too closely, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hernandez was released on a summons to appear Oct. 7.
—Tyron Charles, 20, Baldwin, was arrested at 7:14 p.m. Tuesday by the Narcotics Section on charges of improper lane usage, possession of marijuana and on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charge of illegal carrying of a weapon. Charles was released on a $5,250 bond.
—Roderick Dominick Jr., 23, Baldwin, was arrested at 7:14 p.m. Tuesday by the Narcotics Section on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Dominick also was named in a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of operating a vehicle while license is suspended, revoked or canceled; possession, distribution or sale of a legend drug without a prescription; speeding; improper use of registration, license plate or license; and operation of a vehicle not covered by security.
Bail has not been set.
—Gwendolyn Williams, 66, Patterson, was arrested at 7:54 a.m. Tuesday on charges of improper lane usage and driving under suspension. Williams was released on a summons to appear Oct. 7.
—Raymon Dontrial Jones Sr., 32, Jeanerette, was arrested at 2:34 p.m. Tuesday on charges of aggravated battery and criminal damage to property. Jones continues to be incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
—Traci Fitch Whitehurst, 39, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of resisting a police officer with force or violence, battery of a police officer and disturbing the peace (offensive words). Bail was set at $15,000.
—Brei Daymon Lynch, 21, Berwick, was arrested at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charge of failure to yield at a stop sign. Lynch was released on personal surety.
—Frankie Gerard Clark, 37, Amelia, was arrested at 8:34 p.m. Tuesday on charges of turning movements and signals required, brake lights required, driver must be licensed and no insurance.
Clark was released on a summons to appear Oct. 7.
Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon these arrests:
—Kyron K. Thompson, 19, Daggs Street, Belle Rose, was arrested Monday on charges of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles (two counts), aggravated criminal damage to property (two counts), assault by drive-by shooting, and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.
—Joshua L. Washington, 19, West Second Street, Donaldsonville, was arrested Monday on charges of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles (two counts), aggravated criminal damage to property (two counts), assault by drive-by shooting, and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.
—Juvenile male, 17, Belle Rose, was arrested Monday on charges of aggravated criminal damage to property (two counts), assault by drive-by shooting, and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.
—Juvenile male, 17, Gonzales, was arrested Monday on charges of aggravated criminal damage to property (two counts), assault by drive-by shooting, and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities.
The shooting occurred July 7 in the 100 block of La. 1014 near Labadieville.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to the location in reference to a drive-by-shooting.
Deputies noted evidence consistent with the alleged crime, including multiple rounds fired from a vehicle into two mobile homes.
The complainant’s residence at the time was occupied by several people. No individuals were injured as a result of the crime.
Detectives responded and initiated an investigation and recovered evidence in support of the complaint.
Detectives were able to identify the suspects. Three of the suspects were determined to have fired high-powered assault firearms into the mobile home, and the fourth suspect allegedly drove the vehicle used in the crime.
Warrants charging the two adults were secured while verified complaints were filed against the juveniles.
Thompson was taken into custody Monday and ordered held without bond. Washington was arrested with the assistance of Iberville Parish deputies Monday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and awaits a bond hearing.
The teenagers were taken to juvenile facilities.
–Jaron S. Gray, 36, Anitioch Street, Paulina, was arrested on charges of possession of oxycodone, prohibited acts (Schedule I), driving under a suspended license and speeding 71 mph in a 55 mph zone.
The arrest followed an early-morning traffic stop near Labadieville.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a southbound vehicle commit a traffic violation. The deputy initiated a stop of the violator and made contact with the driver, now identified as Gray.
During the interview, the deputy noted conditions consistent with illegal drug activity. At some point during the initial interview, the driver voluntarily surrendered a quantity of suspected marijuana and consented to a search of his vehicle.
During the search, the deputy recovered a dose of hydrocodone.
Gray was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
St. Martin
Sheriff Becket Breaux reported these arrests:
—Davin Myers, 30, Duchamp Road, St. Martinville, was arrested Tuesday by Louisiana Probation and Parole on a probation violation.
—Rodney Trahan, 30, Amite Drive, Lafayette, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of violation of a protective order.
—Jerome Wilkins, 27, St. Claire Street, Breaux Bridge, was arrested Tuesday by the Breaux Bridge Police Department on charges of driver must be licensed, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm while committing or attempting a crime, and violations of controlled dangerous substance laws.
—David Alexander, 58, Zin Zin Road, Breaux Bridge, was arrest Monday on a charge of probation violation.
—Richard Simon, 54, Loreauville Highway, St. Martinville, was arrested Monday on charges of theft $1-$999, criminal trespass, simple domestic abuse battery and failure to appear.
