Domestic abuse, dating partner battery arrests reported

City and parish authorities reported weekend arrests on charges of domestic abuse aggravated assault and battery of a dating partner.

Morgan City

Police Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 159 calls for service over the last 72-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Georgianna jacquilin Sweetser, 55, Ditch Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:22 p.m. Friday on charges of domestic abuse aggravated assault and failure to appear for trial (16th Judicial District Court), and as a fugitive from the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office.

--Schwann Williams, 41, Natalie Drive, Patterson was arrested at 11:44 a.m. Saturday on a charge of possession of marijuana.

--Elmer Singleton III, 42, Frontage Road, Amelia, was arrested at 12:24 p.m. Friday on a charge of telephone harassment.

--Amy Marie Stratton, 42, Elm Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10 p.m. Friday on charges of improper lane usage, driving under suspension and failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Devante Frank, 30, Dora Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:53 a.m. Saturday on two counts of failure to appear for hearing (16th Judicial District Court) and two counts of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Naquel Deron Dotch, 34, Tiffany Street, Patterson, was arrested at 1:08 p.m. Saturday on charges of possession of marijuana, driving under suspension and improper turning.

--Daylon Michael Luke, 24, St. Louis Canal Road, Houma, was arrested at 4:46 p.m. Saturday on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal carrying of weapons.

--Milton Daniel Guerrero-Amaya, 24, Onstread Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:41 p.m. Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense) and no driver's license.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 85 complaints and made these arrests:

--Alex Wayne Horton, 34, Amelia, was arrested at 4:06 p.m. Saturday on a charge of battery of a dating partner. Bail was set at $2,500.

--Derrick Jamar Meads, 40, Labadieville, was arrested at 7:28 a.m. Friday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of speeding and operating a vehicle while license is suspended, revoked or canceled. Meads was released on a $1,000 bond.

--David Nelson Collins, 47, Palmetto, was arrested at 9:43 a.m. Friday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of domestic abuse battery (strangulation, child present), conspiracy to obstruction of justice and resisting an officer. Bail was set at $130,000.

--Ernest Peter Thomas, 39, Jeanerette, was arrested at 9:20 a.m. Saturday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of failure to obtain special identification card (sex offender), resisting an officer, failure to pay annual registration feel and registration of sex offenders.

Bail was set at $6,250.

--Jericho Billington, 30, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:24 p.m. Sunday on two warrants alleging failure to appear on the charges of improper turn or failing to give proper signal, operating a vehicle without a driver's license, and failing to honor written promise to appear. Bail was set at $865.

--Charnise Latrell Safford, 44, Franklin, was arrested at 1:07 a.m. Monday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $25,000.

--Joey Choplin, 43, Belle Rose, was arrested at 4:52 p.m. Friday by the Narcotics Section on an Assumption Parish warrant alleging felony shoplifting theft. Choplin is being held for another agency.
