Deputies make Amelia-area arrests on gun and drug charges

Assumption Parish authorities reported three arrests on gun and drug charges in the Amelia area.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported these arrests:

--Logan Jay Gilbert, 24, Lavender Street, New Orleans, was arrested Monday on a charge of prohibited possession of firearms.

--Christopher Lee McCarty, 43, Hickory Ridge Drive, Coldspring, Texas, was arrested Monday on charges of possession of Adderall without a prescription and illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.

-- Blain Patrick Casey, 25, Desert Street, Conroe, Texas, was arrested Monday on a charges of speeding and possession of an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle.

The arrests resulted from a from a traffic stop on U. S. 90 in the Amelia area late Monday.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed an eastbound vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as and engaged the driver in an interview.

The deputy noticed movement within the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The deputy removed the two remaining occupants, Gilbert and McCarty, from the vehicle and conducted a protective pat down search of the three individuals.

During the personal search of McCarty, the deputy located and seized a quantity of Adderall, and McCarty acknowledged that he did not have a prescription for the substance.

The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the suspect vehicle. During the search process, deputies recovered two handguns.

Gilbert and McCarty were booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending bond hearings.

Casey was cited and released with a court date.

-- Zavian Paul Boutte, 21, South Burnside Avenue, Gonzales, was arrested on charges of illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of controlled dangerous substances; possession of methamphetamine; possession of Klonopin (clonazepam); possession of hydrocodone; sale, distribution or possession of a legend drug without a prescription or order; possession of drug paraphernalia; obstruction of justice; possession of Suboxone; obstruction of justice; and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

The arrests followed a traffic stop on U.S. 90 near Amelia.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Green Blair Malik Davontae, and engaged Devontae in an interview. The deputy also interviewed the remaining occupants, one of whom is identified as Boutte.

The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the vehicle. During the search process, deputies recovered, a large-caliber handgun, a large-caliber rifle, assorted drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, Klonopin (clonazepam) and hydrocodone. Additionally, a large quantity of marijuana, methamphetamine, and Suboxone was seized from the person Boutte.

Boutte was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

Devontae was issued a citation for illegal window tint and released.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 32 complaints and made these arrests:

--Tyler Paul Rogers, 28, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 5:04 a.m. Tuesday on charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle under suspension for certain prior offenses. Bail has not been set at this time.

Glenn David Carline, 59, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:10 p.m. Monday on charges of driving while intoxicated, driving on right side of the road, open container and expired driver’s license.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Keyandre Polidore, 32, Patterson, was arrested at 1:43 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of a firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bail has not been set at this time.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 119 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and made this arrest:

--Blade Desire Ballard, 28, Belanger Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:03 p.m. Monday on a charge of disturbing the peace (intoxicated).
