Cameras, social media assist in suspect's arrest

A combination of home surveillance cameras, social media and police work resulted in the arrest of a man accused of trespassing on property at several Lakeside homes, Morgan City police said.

Morgan City
Police Chief James F. Blair reported that over the last 24-hour period, the Morgan City Police Department responded to 51 calls for service and made these arrests:
—Anthony Terrell Dixon, 31, Everett Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:59 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging direct contempt of court (failure to appear for arraignment). He was arrested at 10:49 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging two counts of criminal trespass.
During the early morning hours Tuesday, officers of the Morgan City Police Department responded to several calls of an individual randomly walking through private property. He was captured on several residential surveillance systems in Lakeside Subdivision. One of the responding officers observed Dixon, who fit a possible decription, walking on La. 182. A warrant check revealed the City Court of Morgan City held an active warrant for his arrest.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was a person of interest in the individual trespassing in Lakeside Subdivision.
The footage from Lakeside Subdivision was released on social media, and the individual was positively identified as Dixon. An arrest warrant for Dixon was obtained by detectives with the Morgan City Police Department.
Dixon was additionally booked on the new charges. The investigation continues, and further charges could be filed.
—Skilan Ariel Gros, 27, Greenleaf Boulevard, Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 11:29 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of entry or remaining in places or on land after forbidden and resisting an officer, and on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant alleging failure to appear for arraignment (three counts).
—Nicholas Anthony Feliciano, 26, Saint Clair Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of theft under $1,000.
—Angelina Coleman, 36, McKinley Street, Houma, was arrested at 10:39 p.m. Tuesday on warrant alleging contributing to child delinquency or neglect and contempt of court (6th Ward Court).
—Lacey Yates, 38, Pecan Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:47 p.m. Tuesday on charges of improper lane usage, tail lamps and possession of marijuana.

St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 42 complaints and made these arrests:
—Darren James Darby, 25, Franklin, was 11:05 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of simple criminal damage to property. Darby continues to be incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
—Robert Carley Chapman, 35, Franklin, was arrested at 1:22 p.m. Tuesday on charges of improper lane usage and driving under suspension. Chapman was released on a summons Oct. 7.
—Jerime Lamal Chapman, 33, Patterson, was arrested at 2:19 p.m. Tuesday on charges of resisting an officer by flight, resisting a police officer with force (aggravated), possession of marijuana, possession of a legend drug without prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Chapman was released on a $10,000 bond.
—Carissa Ann Upshaw, 40, Franklin, was arrested at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of marijuana, introduction of contraband into a penal institution, driving under suspension and possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II drug.
Upshaw was also named in a a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage. Bail has not been set.
—Hailey Elizabeth Saucier, 21, Franklin, was arrested at 10:08 a.m. Tuesday on charges of speeding, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Saucier was released on a summons to appear Oct. 7.
—Eric Demond Dennis, 36, Franklin, was arrested at 1:24 a.m. Wednesday on charges of improper lane usage, no driver’s license, resisting an officer by giving false information, obstruction of justice (tampering), possession of Schedule II drugs and monetary instrument abuse.
Bail has not been set.
—Mariah Moore, 33, Jeanerette, was arrested at 1:24 a.m. Wednesday on charges of possession of Schedule II drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has not been set.
—Jaquan Verrett, 22, Franklin, was arrested at 5:33 p.m. Tuesday by the Narcotics Section on a charge of possession of marijuana and brake lights out. Verrett was released on a summons to appear Oct. 7.
—Trevontrea Freeman, 25, Jeanerette, was arrested at 6:22 p.m. Tuesday by the Narcotics Section on charges of no turn signal, possession of marijuana, possession of alprazolam, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, resisting an officer by giving false information and no driver’s license. Freeman was also arrested on an Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant on a charge of domestic abuse aggravated battery.
Bail was set at $60,000 on the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office charges, and a hold has been placed on Freeman by another agency.

Franklin
Police Chief Morris Beverly reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 10 complaints over the past 24 hours and made the following arrests:
—Joseph Nedd, 56, Tabor Street, Franklin, was arrested at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant dated June 13 alleging theft and two counts of aggravated second-degree battery and theft. Nedd was booked, processed and held on a $40,000 bond.

St. Martin
Sheriff Becket Breaux reported these arrests:
—Mark Bonin, 29, Vermilion Street, Breaux Bridge, was arrested Tuesday and held for court.
—Kelly Brousard, 48, Broussard Lane, Arnaudville, was arrested Tuesday by the Henderson Police Department on a warrant for failure to appear.
—Darius Coleman, 27, Clairborne Drive, Lafayette, was arrested Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, criminal trespass, simple criminal damage to property and simple possession of marijuana, and on an extradition warrant.
—Ricky Escagne, 20, Bayou Alexandre Highway, St. Martinville, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of aggravated battery.
—Jason Jones, 21, Cypress Island Highway, St. Martinville, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of third-degree rape.
—Joseph Ramsay, 39, Jefferson Street, St. Martinville, was arrested Tuesday on charges of simple domestic abuse battery and warrants for failure to appear on charges of simple domestic abuse battery, home invasion, illegal possession of stolen things, simple escape, aggravated battery and simple criminal damage to property.
—Julien Mallery, 31, Bridge Street, St. Martinville, was arrested Tuesday on charges of manufacture, distribution or possession with intent to district Schedule II drugs; clandestine lab; violations of controlled dangerous substance laws; possession of Schedule III drugs (stimulations); Schedule I drugs; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Bryce Meche, 24, Serette Street, Breaux Bridge, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of video voyeurism.
—Heidi Theriot, 40, St. Martinville, was arrested June 29 on charges of possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute buprenorphine, creation or operation of a clandestine laboratory, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, three counts of use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of juveniles, six counts of possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, criminal conspiracy to distribute Schedule I, II and III drugs, and criminal conspiracy to operate a clandestine laboratory.
—Ricky P. Theriot Jr., 39, St. Martinville, was arrested June 29 on charges of possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute buprenorphine, creation or operation of a clandestine laboratory, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, three counts of use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of juveniles, six counts of possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, criminal conspiracy to distribute Schedule I, II and III drugs, and criminal conspiracy to operate a clandestine laboratory.
—Trey Theriot, 20, St. Martinville, was arrested June 29 on charges of possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute buprenorphine, creation or operation of a clandestine laboratory, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, three counts of use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of juveniles, six counts of possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, criminal conspiracy to distribute Schedule I, II and III drugs, and criminal conspiracy to operate a clandestine laboratory.
An investigation was initiated following reports of suspected illegal drug activity at a residence in the 1500 block of Hebert Lane Highway, St. Martinville.
At the culmination of the investigation, deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office obtained a narcotics search warrant for the residence.
Bond was set at $745,000 for each of the three suspects.
Breaux thanked agents with Homeland Security Investigations for their assistance regarding this investigation.
—Madelyn Paige Matt, 33, Lafayette, was arrested Monday on a charge of felony theft.
Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office received a report from a resident regarding several unauthorized credit card charges. Following an investigation into the allegations, deputies learned that multiple unauthorized transactions had been made over the span of several days.
At the culmination of the investigation, deputies were able to identify the suspect, and a warrant of arrest was obtained.
Matt was arrested Monday.
Bond was set at $7,500.
Breaux encouraged everyone to regularly review bank and credit card statements so unauthorized charges can be detected in a timely manner. Report discrepancies immediately to the banking institution or credit card agency, along with your local law enforcement agency.
