Bomb threats at three college campuses, including Young Memorial campus

At 1 p.m., Morgan City police said the Young Memorial Campus had been cleared after a lunchtime bomb threat.

Classes have been canceled for the rest of today and will resume Thursday, the MCPD said in a Facebook post.

Just before noon, the department reported that a bomb threat had been received at the campus.

Officials at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette also reported a Wednesday bomb threat. The Advocate reported that the university's central-campus buildings were evacuated and cleared.

And in Chalmette, the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office responded to a bomb threat at Nunez Community College about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.

Deputies quickly responded to the scene, evacuated everyone from the campus and secured all buildings, the Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.

Nothing suspicious was found on campus, but the investigation in ongoing to determine where the threat initiated, the post said.
