Berwick police: 12-year-old brandished BB gun; man, teen accused of interfering with fire response

Berwick police say they arrested a 12-year-old who tried to pass off a BB gun as the real thing during a fight, and an adult and a 17-year-old girl who are accused of causing a disturbance while firefighters were battling a blaze at a Johnson Drive home Sunday, police reports say.
Berwick
Police Chief David Leonard reported these arrests:
—Juvenile, 12, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:05 p.m. Saturday on charges of possession of marijuana (under 14 grams) and illegal carrying of a weapon.
About 7:25 p.m. Saturday, officers working the Berwick Lighthouse Festival were advised of a fight that took place on the fairgrounds. While gathering information regarding the incident, it was learned that a male subject brandished a firearm during the disturbance and fled on foot.
A description of the subject was given to officers. A juvenile matching the description was located a short time later. Officers made contact with the juvenile and located an airsoft pistol concealed in his waistband that was portrayed to be a real firearm.
During this time, the juvenile was also found to be in possession of marijuana. The juvenile was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department, where he was booked and released to a parent pending a court hearing.
—Brandon Grant, 39, Johnson Drive, Berwick, was arrested at 3:36 p.m. Sunday on a charge of disturbing the peace (14th offense).
—Juvenile, 17, was arrested at 5:36 p.m. Sunday on charges of disturbing the peace, resisting an officer by force or violence, battery of a police officer, threatening a public official and interfering with a law enforcement investigation.
About 3:31 p.m. Sunday, the Berwick Police Department was dispatched to a residence on Johnson Drive for a structure fire. Officers observed the residence to be fully engulfed in flames.
Officers spoke with the homeowners and asked if anybody was inside the residence. They said no and were upset that the Fire Department had not arrived on scene. The Fire Department arrived on scene within 3 minutes of being dispatched.
During this time, officers advised the residents that they needed to back away from the scene in order for fire personnel to be able to perform their duties. The residents became irate with officers and refused to leave from the area. Officers attempted to speak with Grant, who continuously ignored officers’ commands and began cursing and causing a disturbance.
Grant was then handcuffed and at that time a juvenile girl became even more upset and too started to cause a disturbance. Officers attempted to place the juvenile under arrest, at which time she began resisting arrest and committed a battery on one of the officers.
The juvenile was able to be handcuffed and she began threatening to commit harm to other public officials performing their duties at the scene. The juvenile was transported to the Berwick Police Department, where she was booked.
Following the booking the juvenile was released to a parent pending a court hearing. Grant was released on a summons to appear in court in December.
—Freddie Bonvillain 67, Fern Street, Thibodaux, was arrested at 4:25 p.m. Saturday on a warrant alleging criminal trespassing.
On Saturday, Bonvillain entered the Berwick Police Department to speak with an officer regarding an unrelated complaint. During this time, a warrants check was conducted and it was learned that he had an active warrant through the Berwick Police Department.
Bonvillain was placed under arrest and released on a summons to appear on court in December.
—Dustin Henagin, 38, Bowman Street, Berwick, was arrested 8:29 p.m. Saturday on charges of domestic abuse battery (strangulation), possession of methamphetamine and violation of controlled dangerous substance laws (drug-free zone).
About 8:05 p.m. Saturday, the Berwick Police Department received a call about a battery that occurred at a residence on Bowman Street. Officers arrived at the residence and spoke with the complainant and several witnesses, who advised that Henagin attacked a family member and started choking him.
Officers met with Henagin and placed him under arrest. During a search of his person, Henagin was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. The residence in which the incident occurred is within 2,000 feet of a school, which is a posted drug-free zone.
Henagin was transported to the Berwick Police Department, where he was booked.
Morgan City
Police Chief James F. Blair reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 120 calls for service within the last 72-hour reporting period and made these arrests:
—Cynthia Metrejean, 33, 11th Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. Friday on a 6th Ward Morgan City warrant alleging failure to appear to pay fine Sept. 21.
—Ginger Rae Russell, 44, Oak Harbor, Morgan City, was arrested 2:48 p.m. Saturday as a fugitive from the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.
—Robert Christopher Anderson, 36, Ashland Avenue, Bossier City, was arrested at 1:59 a.m. Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), resisting an officer, improper lane usage and wrong way on a one-way.
—Danis Javier Machado, 19, Judy Lane, Patterson, was arrested at 10:52 p.m. Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), careless operation of a motor vehicle, no driver’s license, possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle and speeding.
St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 146 complaints and made these arrests:
-- Meco Mathis, 30, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:31 a.m. Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
On Sunday, deputies were at a local restaurant when a subject identified as Mathis approached the table where the deputies were seated and spoke to them. The deputies observed that Mathis had slurred speech and Mathis indicated he had indeed been drinking.
Sometime later, the deputies were leaving the restaurant when they observed Mathis get into a vehicle. The deputies approached Mathis and told him he should have someone pick him up as it was not safe to drive, and if he were to attempt to drive, he would be arrested.
Deputies exited the parking lot and observed Mathis drive the vehicle out of the parking lot. The deputies immediately conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and conducted field sobriety in which Mathis performed poorly. Mathis was transported to the Berwick Police Department for testing on the Intoxilyzer 9000, in which Mathis was recorded at 0.173g%.
Mathis was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Mathis was later released on a $2,500 bond.
-- Jason Anthony Alexander, 34, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:52 a.m. Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated and reckless operation (no accident).
On Sunday, a deputy was stationary on La. 182 at James Street when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, approximately 100 mph in a 45 mph zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Alexander. The deputy conducted field sobriety in which Alexander performed poorly.
Alexander was transported to the Berwick Police Department for testing on the Intoxilyzer 9000, in which he was recorded at 0.137g%.
Alexander was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and was later released on a $3,000 bond.
--Jairo Jarez Perez, 25, Amelia, was arrested at 12:19 a.m. Saturday on charges of no headlights, reckless operation (no accident) and resisting an officer by flight
Perez was released on a $4,750 bond.
--Deandre Alonzo Robertson, 39, Jeanerette, was arrested at 4:47 p.m. Saturday on charges of turning movements/required signals and driving under suspension. Robertson was released on a summons to appear Feb. 3.
--Joshua Mitchel Aucoin Sr., 35, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Saturday on two warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of second-degree battery, aggravated assault, resisting an officer, improper lane usage, failure to stop/yield at stop sign and no driver's license on person.
Bail has not been set.
--Samantha Jolene Landreneau, 29, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:23 p.m. Saturday on a charge of for domestic abuse (child endangerment law). Landreneau was released on a $3,500 bond.
--Ariel Domangue, 30, Amelia, was arrested at 12:13 a.m. Sunday on a charge of possession of marijuana. Domangue was released on a summons to appear Feb. 3.
--Juvenile male, 15, Berwick, was arrested at 6:45 p.m. on charges of resisting arrest or officer, illegal possession of a handgun by a minor (two counts) and illegal possession of stolen firearms.
The juvenile was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
--Gentry Keon Johnson Sr., 36, Gibson, was arrested at 1:54 p.m. Sunday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana. Bail was set at $3,500.
--Anthony Jamal Loston, 31, Jeanerette, was arrested at 2:25 p.m. on a warrant for failure to appear as a witness before a judge. Loston is being held to appear before the judge.
--Henry Wayne Truelove Jr., 36, Charenton, was arrested at 3:09 p.m. Sunday on charges of domestic abuse battery (strangulation) and domestic abuse battery, and on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana, domestic abuse battery (strangulation) and battery of the infirm. Bail was set at $10,500.
--Mason Rodrigue, 30, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:21 p.m. Sunday on a charge of driving under suspension. Rodrigue was released on a summons to appear Feb. 3.
--Koby Jones, 19, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:26 a.m. Monday on charges of speeding, driver must be licensed and possession of marijuana. Jones was released on a summons to appear Feb. 3.
--Brice Jones, 26, Franklin, was arrested 12:57 p.m. Friday by the Narcotics Section on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and transactions involving drug proceeds. Bail was set at $20,000.
--Donald Eues, 59, Berwick, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. Friday by the Narcotics Section on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Eues was released on a summons to appear Feb. 3.
--Edward Stanley, 26, Berwick, was arrested at 2:15 p.m. Friday by the Narcotics Section on a charge of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Stanley was released on a summons to appear Feb. 3.
--Henry Williams, 62, Franklin, was arrested at 12:57 p.m. Friday by the Narcotics Section on charges of improper lane usage and possession of marijuana. Williams was released on a summons to appear Feb. 3.
Franklin
Police Chief Morris Beverly said the Franklin Police Department responded to 14 complaints over the past weekend and made this arrest:
—Lilvillier Narcisse, 34, Vieux Orleans, Lafayette, was arrested on two 15th Judicial District Court warrants alleging failure to appear on the charges of unauthorized use of a movable, domestic abuse battery and no driver's license. Narcisse was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:
—Jeremy Earl Gamble Jr., 23, Elaine Street, Morgan City, was arrested Thursday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
The charge followed a May 7 traffic incident on Elaine Street, Bayou L’Ourse.
On May 7, a uniformed patrol deputy came upon a vehicle parked in the roadway. As the deputy maneuvered to address the matter, the suspect drove off.
At some point, the deputy was able to stop the vehicle and then made contact with Gamble. Due to developments during an interview, the deputy requested and was granted consent to search the vehicle. During the search, a quantity of methamphetamine was seized.
At the time Gamble was brought to a local hospital for medical treatment, so he was not charged at the time.
On Thursday, deputies booked Gamble into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
