Berwick man arrested in attack on juvenile

A Berwick man faces a first-degree rape charge after an attack on a juvenile, arrest reports say.
Berwick
Police Chief David Leonard reported this arrest:
—Ty S. Kapp, 20, Fifth Street, Berwick, was arrested at 3:17 p.m. Wednesday on a Berwick Police Department warrant for first-degree rape.
At 4:33 p.m. Tuesday, the Berwick Police Department received a complaint of a rape that occurred in which the victim was a juvenile. Detectives immediately launched an investigation into this incident and identified Kapp as the suspect.
Through investigation, detectives uncovered evidence that supported the information provided by the victim and a warrant was prepared for Kapp’s arrest. At 3:17 p.m. Wednesday, detectives made contact with Kapp at the Berwick Police Department and placed him under arrest on the warrant.
He was booked into the Berwick Jail with no bond set. Due to the nature of the crime and the age of the victim, no further information will be released regarding this incident. This matter remains under investigation.
—Manuel M. Rodriguez, 48, Federal Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:38 p.m. Tuesday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), reckless operation of a motor vehicle and no driver’s license.
At 9:38 p.m. Tuesday, officers assisted the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office with a complaint of a reckless driver on U.S. 90 West in Berwick.
Officers arrived on scene and learned from the complainant that the vehicle was observed driving in a reckless manner.
The driver was identified as Rodriguez, and he exhibited signs of impairment on alcohol.
He performed the standardized field sobriety tests and performed poorly on all aspects of the test. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he submitted a proper sample of .214g%BAC on the intoxilyzer machine.
Officers also learned that Rodriguez did not have a driver’s license. Rodrigue was booked into the Berwick Jail, where he remains with bond set at $2,500.00.
—Christopher J. Landry, 43, Francis Street, Berwick, was arrested 10:05 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of possession of Subutex and on Berwick Police Department warrants for felony simple criminal damage to property and theft under $1,000.
At 10:05 p.m. Wednesday, an officer on patrol observed Landry on the porch at his residence. The officer was aware of an active warrant for Landry’s arrest.
Officers made contact with Landry and placed him under arrest on the warrant. During his arrest, he was found to be in possession of Subutex pills, which he did not have a prescription for.
The warrant stems from an investigation into a theft that occurred May 8, in which items were damaged and stolen from the property.
Landry was identified as the suspect and a warrant was prepared for his arrest. He was booked into the Berwick Jail with no bond set.
—Travis P. Aucoin, 50, Ceylon Street, Berwick, was arrested at 11:44 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of disturbing the peace (third offense).
At 11:39 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a residence on Ceylon Street in reference to a complaint of loud music coming from a residence.
Officers arrived and could hear the music being played very loudly from the street.
Officers made contact with Aucoin in his residence and learned that the Police Department had received numerous complaints of his music being excessively loud in the recent past.
He received warnings and a citation for those prior incidents. Due to the number of complaints, and because of the time of night, Aucoin was placed under arrest for disturbing the peace (third offense). He was booked into the Berwick Jail and released after posting a $241 cash bond.
St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 35 complaints and reported these arrests:
—Juvenile male, 16, Berwick, was arrested at 11:51 a.m. Wednesday as an ungovernable juvenile. The juvenile male was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Jerral Wade Prestenbach, 32, Patterson, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of possession of marijuana. No bail has been set.
—Lamar Jermaine Weeden, 48, Patterson, was arrested at 4:18 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering. No bail has been set.
—Tyreik Harrison, 52, Franklin, was arrested at 4:39 p.m. Wednesday by the Narcotics Section a charge of resisting an officer. Harrison was released on a $2,500 bond.
—Archie Antowne Levias, 33, Houston, Texas, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on a Harris County, Texas, warrant for probation violation. Levias is being held for another agency.
Franklin
Police Chief Morris Beverly said the Franklin Police Department responded to 12 complaints over the past 24 hours and made these arrests:
—Deazhone Baker, 27, Ninth Street, Franklin, was arrested at 9:23 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant dated May 16 for theft of a motor vehicle. Baker was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
—Talencia Thomas, 29, Eighth Street, Franklin, was arrested at 8:28 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court for failure to appear on the charge of criminal mischief.
Thomas was additionally arrested on a warrant for Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Florida for probation violation. Thomas was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
—Christina Fontenot, 41, Gum Street, Franklin, was arrested at 8:53 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting. Fontenot was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon reported these arrests:
—Jesse John Solar, 34, Memorial Drive, Donaldsonville, was arrested Wednesday on charges of battery of a dating partner and felony violation of a protective order (second or subsequent offense).
Deputies responded to a domestic situation in Belle Rose and made contact with the alleged victim, who indicated that she and the accused, identified as Solar, had a dispute two days earlier and that it continued.
At some point on Wednesday evening, the disagreement turned physical for the second time, with Solar committing a battery on the victim.
Investigating deputies found probable cause to conclude that the suspect had indeed committed a battery on multiple occasions.
Solar was arrested at the scene and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Facility with a bond set at $50,000.
—Christian Tyler Perez, 23, Dealita Drive, Avondale, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of indecent behavior with juveniles.
The arrest resulted from an April 11 incident near Belle Rose.
On that date, deputies responded to a complaint in which it was alleged that Perez was at a gathering at the complainant’s home. It was further declared that Perez had committed an inappropriate sexual act upon a child.
Detectives conducted a follow-up investigation and found probable cause to seek arrest warrants for Perez. There was an independent witness who corroborated the victim’s allegations.
The suspect was arrested by Jefferson Parish authorities on Wednesday. He was transported to Assumption Parish and booked into the detention center with a bond set at $60,000.
