Berwick, Gibson residents arrested on heroin charges

Assumption Parish deputies reported the arrests of Berwick and Gibson residents on heroin possession charges.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported these arrests:

--Craig Michael Free, 36, River Road, Berwick, was arrested on charges of obstruction of justice, possession of heroin, possession of Suboxone, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, owner to secure registration and no insurance.

--Christian Nichole Arceneaux, 35, Oak Ridge Lane, Gibson, was arrested on charges of obstruction of justice, possession of heroin, possession of Suboxone, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges resulted from a traffic stop on U.S. 90 near Amelia.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed an eastbound vehicle with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The driver is identified as Free.

The deputy made contact with the driver.

At the conclusion of an interview, the deputy believed that additional investigation was warranted. The deputy requested and was granted consent to search the vehicle. During that search, quantities of various controlled dangerous substances were seized. Both suspects were arrested.

At the parish detention center, the investigating officer recovered additional evidence that was possessed by Arceneaux.

They were booked at the Assumption Parish Detention Center, and each remains incarcerated with bond set at $40,000.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 38 complaints and made these arrests:

--Michael John Lacoste, 68, Lafayette, was arrested at 11:51 a.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Lacoste was released on his own recognizance.

--Scotty Allen Pellerin, 42, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:55 p.m. Thursday on two warrants alleging failure to appear on charges possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of synthetic cannabinoids, theft (less than $1,000), and entry or remaining in places after forbidden.

Bail was set at $11,000.

--Ronnie Milton Boatman, 44, Franklin, was arrested at 3:16 a.m. Friday on a charge of resisting officer or arrest, and on a warrant alleging failure to appear for criminal neglect of family. Bail
has not been set at this time.

--Luis Ivan Garcilazo, 20, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 5:37 p.m. Thursday on a charge of burglary of a vehicle.

On Sunday, a deputy was dispatched to a residence in Bayou Vista in reference to a vehicle burglary. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a man who stated that his vehicle had been burglarized and money was missing.

The deputy began an investigation and subsequently developed Garcilazo as the suspect. A warrant was obtained for his arrest.

On Thursday, deputies made contact with Garcilazo, informed him of the warrant for his arrest, and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Bail was set at $15,000.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 54 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Bridget Pojar, 43, Egle Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:25 p.m. Thursday on two counts of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court)

--Shawn Michael Thompson, 45, Rose Park Lane, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Thursday on charges of criminal trespassing and theft (under $1,000).

--Alton Michael Kemp Jr., 36, Verdun Lane, Centerville, was arrested at 8:41 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of alprazolam, possession of drug paraphernalia, no driver’s license and failure to appear for imposition hearing (16th Judicial District Court).

--Tyson Roshawn Alexander, 40, Caleb Lane, Franklin, was arrested at 8:41 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and resisting an officer.
