A beautiful day to clean up Morgan City
April 18 was a beautiful morning for litter pickup as the city of Morgan City, in partnership with Keep St. Mary Beautiful, once again teamed up to help make our community a clean and beautiful place to live.
This year was especially heartwarming, as grandparents worked alongside their grandchildren. Local businesses and city leaders from both Morgan City and Berwick also came out.
Organizers were especially grateful for a dedicated volunteer, Cleveland Johnson, who traveled from Thibodaux and generously donated crape myrtle trees to all volunteers participating in the Siracusa community cleanup.
In total, four separate cleanups were held this year locally. Love the Boot is Louisiana’s statewide anti-litter campaign hosted each April. Lea Hebert ,chairperson for Keep St. Mary Beautiful, encouraged all citizens of St. Mary Parish to continue these efforts year round, pick up litter, beautify your neighborhood, and show pride in your city. If you need litter supplies, they can be picked up at your local library.
If you would like to report litter concerns, please contact the Litter Hotline at 1-888-524-1586.
