Battery, domestic abuse arrests reported by local agencies

Local police agencies reported arrests this week on battery and domestic abuse charges.
Berwick
Police Chief David S. Leonard reported this arrest:
—Juvenile female, 17, Patterson, was arrested at 3:25 p.m. Monday on charges of battery on a police officer, resisting an officer with force or violence, and threatening a public official.
At 3 p.m. Monday, a citizen reported that she observed a female juvenile walking on River Road and informed dispatch that the female had been reported as a runaway juvenile from Patterson.
Officers arrived on River Road and made contact with the female and identified her as the runaway from Patterson. The officer attempted to secure her in his unit, and she began to violently fight and resist the officer. The officer was able to gain control of the female and took her into custody.
Throughout the entire incident, the female continuously threatened the life of the officer. She was transported to the Berwick Police Department, where she was released to the custody of the Patterson Police Department so they could further their investigation into her being a runaway.
St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 35 complaints and made these arrests:
—Michael Bennett, 53, Patterson, was arrested at 4:04 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of aggravated assault and disturbing the peace (offensive words). Bail has not been set.
—Deandre Paul Jackson, 22, Patterson, was arrested at 2:34 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of negligent injuring. Bail has not been.
—Cody Paul Pearce, 34, Berwick, was arrested at 10:26 p.m. Wednesday on two warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of false imprisonment, domestic abuse battery, resisting arrest or officer, unauthorized entry of critical infrastructure, and criminal trespass.
Bail has not been set.
—Quintin McKenzle Nerve, 39, Patterson, was arrested at 7:19 p.m. Wednesday on two warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, careless operation of a motor vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana.
Bail has not been set.
Morgan City
Police Chief Chad M. Adams reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Morgan City Police Department responded to 55 calls for service and made these arrests:
— Tremel O. Jones, 28, Grizzaffi Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:49 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant alleging two counts of failure to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).
—Kendrick Matthews, 32, Fifth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:16 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant alleging access device fraud.
—Curtis A. Richard, 45, Glenwood Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant alleging criminal neglect of family (16th Judicial District Court) and a warrant alleging failure to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).
—Alvin J. Durapau Jr., 34, Federal Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:53 a.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging failure to appear (6th Ward Morgan City Court).
Franklin
Police Chief Morris Beverly reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to seven complaints over the last 24-hour reporting period and made theses arrests:
—Robert Stevens, 51, Birch Street, Franklin, was arrested at 4:13 p.m. Wednesday on two warrants for the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office alleging failure to register and notify as a sex offender or child predator and failure to comply with provisions of supervised release.
Stevens was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release

—Jumichael Smith, 43, Sixth Street, Franklin, was arrested at 11:17 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of disturbing the peace (intoxication) and battery of a dating partner. Smith was booked, processed and held on a $3,500 bond.
—Cora Brown, 66, Hamilton Street, Franklin, was arrested at 11:19 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of aggravated battery. Brown was booked, processed, and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
